| Academy remembers prominent Punjabi writer, educationist Gyani Kartar Singh Komal | |
Srinagar,August 28 (Scoop News)-J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today commemorated prominent Punjabi writer, intellectual and educationist, Kartar Singh Komal. Besides prominent Punjabi writers, intellectuals and scholars, family members of late Gyani Kartar Singh Komal were also present. Dr. Kirat Singh Inqalabi, President Punjabi Sahitya presided over the function while Member Legislative Council, Charanjit Singh Khalsa was the chief guest. Prominent Punjabi writer, Dr. Daljit Singh, and Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Dr. Aziz Hajini were also in the presidium.
Noted Punjabi writer and critic, Kanwal Kashmiri presented a paper on the life and works of Gyani Kartar Singh Komal. In his paper Kanwal highlighted the contribution of late Komal to Punjabi language and culture and stated that the late Punjabi writer and educationist was committed and dedicated for the overall development of Punjabi language and literature.
In his remarks MLC, Charanjit Singh Khalsa underlined the importance of such personalities who always mark as guidelines for the coming generations and described him as a source of encouragement for the scholars. Khalsa expressed his satisfaction that the Academy is doing excellent work in the field of Art, culture and languages. Earlier in his welcome remarks, Secretary Academy, Dr. Aziz Hajini highlighted the activities of the Academy in the field of language and literature and said that he would do whatever was possible for promotion of diverse linguistic heritage of the State.
A special number of Sheeraza Punjabi `Sheeraza Komal Number’ on the life and works of the prominent Punjabi writer and educationist was also released on the occasion. Later poetic tributes were also paid to the late writer-educationist by Ajit Singh Mastana.
