SaMaPa Aalap 2014 resonates with enthralling vocal recitals

Jammu, February 15, (Scoop News)-SaMaPa Aalap Festival (SAF) 2014, being presented by SaMaPa (Sopori Academy of Music And Performing Arts) in collaboration with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Jammu & Kashmir Police and Department of Tourism, Jammu, has been enthralled the music lovers and young children. SaMaPa has made special efforts in shaping the latent of the youth and creating avenue for them so that they can have a choice to make music as their career contributing to the State and national cultural treasure.

The concert at Ammucare – Mohanji Ka Aangan featured enthralling vocal recital by Nitin Sharma accompanied by Shri Shubhash Kanti Das on Tabla and Shri Damodar Lal Ghose on Harmonium. He presented various compositions in different ragas. He concluded his recital with various Bhajans like ‘Payoji Maine” and “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram. The concert was specially organized for the underprivileged children living in the slums. The concert was also witnessed by many eminent personalities from Jammu. The listeners were captivated with his performance. While explaining the subtle technicalities, he also made the young children sing with him who were attending their first music concert. Shri Sumit Gupta spoke about the Ammucare activities and the difference the NGO has caused in the lives of the enrolled children. He also expressed his gratitude to SaMaPa for organizing this special concert which will mean a lot to them in the years to come. Mrs. Sakshi Gupta presented mementos and bouquets to the artists and the guests. Music Maestro Abhay Rustum Sopori spoke to the children focusing their attention on the rich music and culture of the country. He said every child needs to be musically oriented and carry forward the rich legacy of the State and country.

SAF, over the years, has been a medium for the local and upcoming musicians to share a platform with eminent musicians of national and international level. In this direction SaMaPa invited Prof. Jasmeet Kaur from Jammu to perform at the SNS Vidhya Mandir, DBN School, Talab Tillo, Jammu. Jasmeet commenced her recital with Raga Nat Bhairav presenting the Bandish “Bhor Bhaye Panche Jaagey” in Madhyalaya Ektaal followed by Bandish “Jiyara Larje Ma” in Madhyalaya Teentaal and Tarana in Drut Teentaal in Raga Jaunpuri. She concluded her recital with the Meera Bhajan “Rana Ji Me To”. She was accompanied by Shri Neeraj Verma on Tabla and Shri Damodar Lal Ghose on Harmonium. The concert was attended by a large number of students and staff of the School including the Chief Guest Shri S.K. Jain, Social Activist, Principal Ms. Neelam Sabharwal, Dr. Ramakant Dubey, Advisor SNS, Rajinder Kakkar, Manager Trustee, I.D. Soni, Retd. Commissioner Scouts and Guide, Sh. Suresh Sharma, Director Academics DBN, Dr. Baljit Singh, Principal DBN Amarvilla and others. A number of music connoisseurs attended the concerts including Pt. Vijay Shankar Mishra, Senior music critic and musicologist and Vice President SaMaPa, Sitar exponent Ustad Zunain Halim Khan, Sufi diva Ms. Ragini Rainu, Tabla player Shri Shubash Kanti Das and others. Principal and management of DBN thanked SaMaPa, music legend Pandit Bhajan Sopori and maestro Abhay Rustum Sopori for their initiatives to enlighten the younger generation with the traditional arts giving live precious moments to cherish as the students grow. She said SaMaPa Aalap has been significant in revolutionizing the cultural scenario and it’s a privilege for DBN to be a part of this SaMaPa movement.
