| IUST set to host J&K Science Congress | |
Awantipora,September 28 (Scoop News)-The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Science, Technology and Innovation Council (JKSTIC), Department of Science and Technology, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, is set to host the JK Science Congress 2026 from September 29 to October 1, 2026, at its main campus.

The three-day Congress will be inaugurated by Shri Manoj Sinha, Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and Chancellor, IUST, on September 29. Being organised under the theme ‘Science, Innovations and Emerging Technologies for Sustainable and Viksit J&K,’ the Congress will bring together scientists, academicians, researchers, innovators, policymakers, industry representatives and students to deliberate on emerging scientific and technological developments and their applications to regional challenges.
More than a scientific conference, the Congress through 26 technical sessions, 5 plenary sessions, scores of invited talks, and discussions seeks to facilitate conversations around the role of science, technology and innovation in addressing challenges and opportunities specific to Jammu and Kashmir. Deliberations will bring together diverse disciplinary perspectives, with emphasis on translating scientific knowledge and emerging technologies into solutions with relevance for society, the economy and sustainable development.
The scientific programme will cover areas including artificial intelligence, quantum science, nanotechnology, biotechnology, healthcare, sustainable energy, climate and environmental sciences, water and biodiversity, disaster resilience, innovation and entrepreneurship, and smart engineering systems.
Special sessions will explore the application of science and technology in sectors such as food processing and tourism. A dedicated School Students’ Science Programme, including a segment in collaboration with the National Children’s Science Congress, will promote scientific curiosity among young learners. The Congress will also feature cultural and outreach activities, further strengthening engagement among academia, industry, policymakers and the wider community.
