| Sunil Sharma listens public grievances in a public outreach programme in South Kashmir | |
Anantnag, September 17 (Scoop News)-Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Sunil Sharma led a mass public outreach programme in Anantnag, listening to grievances of delegations from South Kashmir.
The programme marked the beginning of an extensive grassroots outreach campaign by the BJP, aimed at highlighting what the party described as the “failures, misgovernance and anti-people policies” of the National Conference-led government.
Sharma was accompanied by BJP State General Secretary Anwar Khan, State Secretary Arif Raja and other senior party leaders.
During the programme, Sunil Sharma interacted with several public delegations, listened to their grievances and sought feedback on issues affecting the people, particularly those related to development, basic public services, employment and welfare.
Sharma said the programme was intended to highlight what he described as a widening gap between the promises made by the National Conference before the elections and its performance in government.
“The NC came to power making big promises to the people, but today the public is asking: Where is the promised development, where are the jobs, and where is the relief in their day-to-day problems?” Sharma said.
He alleged that growing public dissatisfaction reflected what he described as the government’s failure to address people’s concerns and provide effective, accountable and responsive governance.
“The BJP will not allow the government to hide its failures behind political rhetoric. We will go to every district, every constituency and every section of society, listen to the people and bring their issues before the government and the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
Sharma also referred to grievances raised during the outreach programme in Anantnag, saying that they reflected what he described as growing public concern over the functioning and priorities of the NC-led government.
“The BJP is not sitting in offices and making political statements. Our leaders and workers are reaching out to the people, hearing them directly and standing with them in their hour of need. The people’s voice will become the BJP’s strongest weapon against NC’s mis-governance,” he said.
“The people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve performance, accountability and development—not excuses and empty promises. The BJP will remain the strongest voice of the people and will continue to hold the NC government accountable,” Sharma said.
