DC Drass Visits Anganwadi Centre Muradbagh on HCM Demonstration Day under Poshan Maah

Drass, September 16 (Scoop News)-As part of Poshan Maah, under the theme “Fresh Hot Cooked Meals,” Deputy Commissioner Drass, Imteeaz Kacho (JKAS), today visited the Anganwadi Centre of Muradbagh to observe the Hot Cooked Meal (HCM) Demonstration Day aimed at promoting hygienic preparation, balanced composition and appropriate serving of nutritious meals to children.

The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by the Child Development Project Officer, Drass, Abdullah Jan Mir. The concerned Supervisor was also present on the occasion along with the Anganwadi Workers and helpers. During the visit, the Anganwadi staff briefed the Deputy Commissioner about the functioning of the centre including the daily routine of children, meal preparation and serving practices, learning activities and other facilities being provided to them.

The Deputy Commissioner interacted with the Anganwadi staff and enquired in detail about whether children were receiving proper nutrition and essential facilities. He also reviewed the arrangements made for children during the winter months and was informed about the provision of dry fruits and other nutritious food items. Special attention was given to the hygienic preparation, nutritional balance and the act of appropriately serving fresh hot cooked meals. The importance of providing healthy and balanced food during the early years of childhood was highlighted during the programme.

The Deputy Commissioner also enquired about the health and well-being of the children of the village and emphasized the importance of creating a safe, healthy and supportive environment at Anganwadi Centres. Further, he expressed delight about the availability of an digital interactive panel in the Anganwadi Centre for the entertainment of the children and to enable them to learn with fun. He also informed the gathering about his intention to visit other Anganwadi Centres of the District during the remaining days of Poshan Maah.

During the interaction, it was highlighted that Anganwadi Centres play an important role in preparing children for formal schooling by introducing them to basic learning, discipline, social interaction and creative activities. Children at the centre are also engaged in art and other educational activities, helping develop their creativity and learning abilities, it was added. Parents were encouraged to maintain a healthy balance in children's use of mobile phones and digital devices and to promote physical, creative and educational activities instead.

As part of the HCM Demonstration Day, local food items were served to the children, while the nutritional value and health benefits of locally available foods were also highlighted. The initiative sought to encourage healthy eating habits and greater awareness about nutritious local food.

The programme concluded with an emphasis on ensuring proper nutrition, hygiene, balanced meals and overall development of children through strengthened Anganwadi services under Poshan Maah.
