Municipal Committee Kargil Cracks Down on Illegal Constructions

Kargil, September 09 (Scoop News)-In a major enforcement drive against unauthorized construction, the Municipal Committee Kargil, in coordination with the Revenue Department, Police Department, and Public Works Department (PWD), has intensified action against cases of illegal construction within the municipal limits of Kargil.

During the enforcement drive, construction activities found to be in violation of the prescribed Building Bye-Laws. Notices were also served upon the concerned persons, directing them to comply with the applicable rules and regulations.

The Municipal Committee Kargil has been conducting the enforcement drive continuously for the past one week, during which more than 12 notices have been issued so far.

The joint enforcement action is aimed at preventing unauthorized development and ensuring that all construction activities within the municipal limits are undertaken only after obtaining the requisite permission from the competent authority. The authorities have also emphasized that no alteration, addition, or deviation from an approved building plan shall be undertaken without obtaining prior approval from the competent authority.

The Municipal Committee Kargil has issued a stern warning against unauthorized construction and made it clear that strict action will be taken against violators in accordance with the relevant provisions of law.

In an order issued by Executive Officer, Municipal Committee, Kargil, the Khilafwarzi officers have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the Building Bye-Laws on the ground and to ensure that every new building, as well as any alteration or addition to an existing building, is undertaken only after obtaining approval from the competent authority.

The Officials have further been directed to immediately issue notices wherever construction activity is found to be taking place without the requisite approval and to initiate further action as warranted under law.

The enforcement teams have also been directed to conduct daily field inspections to identify and prevent illegal construction. The inspections will also cover buildings for which approvals have already been granted, in order to verify whether the construction is being carried out strictly in accordance with the approved drawings and sanctioned plans.

Officials reiterated that any construction undertaken in violation of the prescribed norms, sanctioned plans, or without proper authorization will invite action under the relevant provisions of law.
