| Webinar on “Role of Engineering Bodies in the Development of J&K | | 
Srinagar, September 09 (Scoop News)-The Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu & Kashmir State Centre (IEI-JKSC), organized a webinar in commemoration of Royal Charter Day on the theme “Role of Engineering Bodies in the Development of Jammu & Kashmir” on Wednesday.
The programme brought together engineering professionals and experts from across the country to deliberate upon the role of engineering institutions in promoting infrastructure development, technical excellence, sustainable development and collaboration for the progress of Jammu & Kashmir.
The programme featured Er. P. Surya Prakash, FIE, Chairman, Civil Engineering Division Board, The Institution of Engineers (India) as the Keynote Speaker. Distinguished Resource Persons included Er. M. Aaqlib Sultana Waheed Deva, FIE, Chief Engineer, JKPCTL; Er. Rashid Ahmad Dar, FIE, Chief Engineer (Retd.); and Er. Rafiq Ahmad Rafiq, MIE, Chief Engineer (Retd.).
In his address, Er. Ferdous Ahad Bhat, FIE, Chairman, IEI-JKSC, emphasized the vital role of engineering bodies in the development of Jammu & Kashmir. He stressed that professional institutions should serve not merely as platforms for engineers but as centres for technical discourse, knowledge sharing, professional excellence and constructive engagement on developmental issues. He highlighted the importance of strengthening coordination among engineering professionals, academic institutions, government agencies and other stakeholders for addressing the region’s developmental challenges. He emphasized that infrastructure development must be supported by technical competence, innovation and sustainable engineering practices, keeping in view the long-term needs and environmental sensitivities of Jammu & Kashmir.
The Keynote Speaker and Resource Persons, drawing upon their professional experience, deliberated on the vital role of engineering bodies in the development of Jammu & Kashmir. They emphasized the importance of technical excellence, modern engineering practices, infrastructure development, sustainable solutions and professional knowledge-sharing. The speakers also stressed the need for stronger collaboration among engineering professionals, academic institutions and other stakeholders to address emerging developmental challenges and support a more progressive, resilient and sustainable Jammu & Kashmir.
The programme was convened by Er. Irfan Ahmad Reshi, MIE who presented the highlights of the programme. The webinar concluded with a reaffirmation of IEI-JKSC’s commitment to promoting engineering excellence, professional collaboration and the meaningful participation of engineers in the development of Jammu & Kashmir.
