| PDP Adopts Landmark Resolution on 27th Foundation Day | | Reaffirms Commitment to Constitutional Rights, Justice, Peace and Dignity in Jammu & Kashmir | Srinagar, July 28 (Scoop News)- On the occasion of its 27th Foundation Day, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) today unanimously adopted a landmark political resolution reaffirming its unwavering commitment to the founding vision of the Party and the ideals of its founder, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, whose politics of reconciliation, dialogue, dignity and inclusive development continue to guide the Party’s vision and direction.
At a time when Jammu & Kashmir is passing through one of the most difficult phases in its contemporary history, the Party renewed its resolve to pursue peaceful, democratic and constitutional means to safeguard the rights, identity, dignity and aspirations of its people.
Reaffirming its core philosophy of “Peace with Dignity,” the resolution describes dialogue, reconciliation, confidence-building and meaningful democratic engagement among all stakeholders as the only sustainable path towards lasting peace and stability in the region.
The resolution reiterates the Party’s unwavering commitment to the peaceful and constitutional resolution of the Jammu & Kashmir issue. It reaffirms the PDP’s continued democratic struggle for the restoration of Article 370, Article 35A and the constitutional guarantees that protected the unique identity and special status of Jammu & Kashmir. It also calls for the immediate release of political prisoners and detainees, an end to the misuse of preventive detention laws, and the restoration of democratic rights, civil liberties and the rule of law.
The Party further resolved to work towards reopening historic roads, Cross-LoC routes, and traditional trade and travel links with the objective of transforming Jammu & Kashmir into a bridge connecting South and Central Asia. It also reiterated its commitment to the dignified return, rehabilitation and secure resettlement of Kashmiri Pandits and all other displaced communities.
Recognising the growing aspirations of the people, particularly the youth, the resolution demands a transparent, merit-based and time-bound recruitment process to fill more than one lakh vacant government posts. It further calls for the equitable utilisation of Jammu & Kashmir’s natural resources for the benefit of its people, greater administrative justice for the Pir Panjal and Chenab regions, and enhanced political representation and empowerment of women.
As part of its democratic programme, the Party resolved to observe 5 August through peaceful district-level protests across Jammu & Kashmir, reaffirming its commitment to restoring the constitutional position of the region and defending democratic and federal principles through peaceful and constitutional means.
The resolution also expressed solidarity with innocent civilians affected by conflicts across the region and reaffirmed the Party’s commitment to peace, justice, humanitarian values and respect for international law.
Concluding the resolution, the People’s Democratic Party pledged to continue its peaceful and democratic struggle for the restoration of constitutional rights, democratic freedoms, federal values and the dignity of the people of Jammu & Kashmir. Drawing inspiration from the vision and legacy of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, the Party reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to building a future founded on justice, reconciliation, peace, dignity and hope for every citizen of Jammu & Kashmir. ... |
