| PDF Chief Hakeem Yaseen Says Timely Action Could Have Prevented Injustice to NEET Aspirants | |
Srinagar, July 26 (Scoop News)-Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Front (PDF) President and former Minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Saturday said that the alleged injustice faced by NEET aspirants protesting in New Delhi could have been avoided had the concerns of students been heard in time.
In a statement issued here, Hakeem Yaseen said the youth had repeatedly raised their voices over issues related to the NEET examination, but their grievances were not addressed promptly. "If the concerns of students had been taken seriously at the right time, the unfortunate situation, including the alleged lathi-charge on protesting NEET aspirants, could have been prevented," he said.
He said lakhs of students and their families had gone through immense stress due to the controversy surrounding the examination and deserved justice rather than hardship. He added that timely intervention and responsible decision-making by the authorities could have prevented the crisis from escalating.
Hakeem Yaseen said accountability in the education system is essential, adding that responsibility must be fixed wherever lapses occur. He remarked that the resignation of the Education Minister had become the need of the hour in view of the developments and the concerns raised by students across the country.
The PDF President urged the government to learn lessons from the episode and ensure that such incidents are not repeated in the future. "The youth are the future of our nation. Their voices should never be ignored, and every effort must be made to protect their rights, dignity and aspirations," he said.
He appealed to the government to evolve a transparent, fair and student-friendly examination system where genuine grievances are addressed without delay, ensuring that students are not forced to take to the streets to seek justice.
