Education Without Values Is Incomplete; Schools Must Nurture Responsible Citizens
Preserve Bandipora's Proud Educational Legacy": Dr. G.N. Var PSA Chief Patron


Bandipora,July 03 (Scoop News)-The District Election of the Private Schools' Association (PSA), Bandipora, was conducted successfully at the Town Hall, Municipal Council Bandipora, in a peaceful, transparent and highly democratic atmosphere, reaffirming the Association's long-standing commitment to institutional democracy, accountability and collective leadership.

The election witnessed an overwhelming participation of school leaders representing all five educational zones of District Bandipora, with Zonal Presidents, representatives and a large majority of member schools actively exercising their democratic right to elect a new district body.

The entire electoral process was conducted under the supervision of Election Commissioner Mohammad Ashraf Malla, assisted by Deputy Election Commissioners Mohammad Umar Bhat and Javid Ahmad Wani, Polling Officer Owais Ahmad, Election Observer Mushtaq Shaheen Bhat, and Election Liaison Officer B.A. Shah. The election proceedings were also supervised by Duty Executive Magistrate Liaqat Ali, Naib Tehsildar Bandipora, ensuring complete transparency, fairness and adherence to democratic principles throughout the process.

For the post of District President Bandipora, four nominations were received from Dr. Yasir Ramzan Bhat (Bandipora), Ghulam Hassan Shah (Shadipora), Saleem Yousuf (Hajin) and Ms. Shameema Ji (Sumbal). Following a peaceful and transparent voting process, Dr. Yasir Ramzan Bhat secured an overwhelming mandate and was elected District President. Ms. Shameema Ji was elected as District Vice President.

For the post of District Secretary, Ms. Shabnam (Bandipora) defeated Gulzar Ahmad (Hajin) to emerge victorious, while Ghulam Nabi Ahanger (Bandipora) was elected District Treasurer after defeating Gulzar Ahmad (Hajin).

The election was witnessed by several distinguished personalities from the education fraternity and civil society, including Chief Education Officer (CEO) Bandipora Mohammad Rafiq Mir, NISA Joint Secretary & PSA Chief Patron Dr. G.N. Var (who joined virtually), Former Joint Director School Education Department Mehboob Hussain, Former Trade Union Leader & JK Civil Society Forum member Mir Fayaz, PSA State President Bilal Ahmad Bhat, Vice President Adv. Ghulam Hassan Rather, General Secretary (Org) Mohammad Syed Wani, Treasurer & District President Shopian Hilal Ahmad Khan, District President Kulgam Dr. Waseem Siddique, Director Media & Communications Dr. Owais Mattoo, District President Srinagar Aadil Habib, besides several renowned educationists and school leaders.

Speaking on the occasion, Election Commissioner Mohammad Ashraf Malla described the election as a shining example of democratic values within civil society institutions. "The entire electoral process was conducted with complete transparency, impartiality and fairness. Every eligible member school was given an equal opportunity to participate, and every vote was respected. The overwhelming participation reflects the confidence of member schools in the democratic traditions of the Private Schools' Association. I congratulate all the elected office bearers and appreciate every candidate for strengthening the democratic culture of the Association."

Addressing the gathering, Chief Education Officer (CEO) Bandipora Mohammad Rafiq Mir congratulated the newly elected body and appreciated PSA for organising a disciplined and democratic election. "My doors will always remain open for every school working sincerely for the betterment of education. I deeply appreciate the immense contribution of PSA Chief Patron Dr. G.N. Var towards strengthening the education sector across Jammu & Kashmir. Such democratic programmes promote healthy institutional culture and deserve appreciation. I assure every possible support from the Education Department for genuine educational initiatives. At the same time, I maintain zero tolerance against corruption. Anyone having evidence of irregularities may approach my office without hesitation and strict action will be taken against those found guilty."

Joined the programme through virtually, NISA Joint Secretary and PSA Chief Patron Dr. G.N. Var congratulated the newly elected district body and called upon young education leaders to carry forward the Association's mission. "Bandipora has historically remained a centre of education, culture and intellectual excellence. It has produced some of the finest scholars, educationists and it is our collective responsibility to preserve and strengthen this glorious legacy. I wholeheartedly congratulate Dr. Yasir Ramzan Bhat, the newly elected district body, the Election Commission and every school leader who participated in this democratic exercise."

Dr. Var further said "Leadership must continuously evolve. Young and committed education leaders should come forward to strengthen the Association and serve the private education sector with sincerity and vision. Private schools are not merely academic institutions; they are centres where responsible citizens are nurtured. Along with quality education, we must instil moral values, discipline, compassion and respect in our children so they become responsible human beings capable of addressing the challenges of modern society."

Former Joint Director, School Education Department, Mehboob Hussain, described the occasion as emotional and inspiring. He said "Bandipora district is my birthplace and returning here always fills me with pride and nostalgia. This district has always been recognised for education, culture and intellectual excellence. We must preserve this rich heritage for future generations. I congratulate Dr. Yasir Ramzan Bhat, the newly elected team and the Election Commission for conducting such an exemplary democratic process."

Former Trade Union Leader and JK Civil Society Forum member Mir Fayaz highly appreciated the leadership of Dr. G.N. Var and the contribution of private schools. He said "Under the visionary leadership of Dr. G.N. Var, the Private Schools' Association has emerged as a responsible voice for quality education. Today's election reflected maturity, transparency and democratic ethics. I congratulate the organisers for conducting such a peaceful and credible election and extend my best wishes to the newly elected leadership."

PSA State President Bilal Ahmad Bhat said the Association has always worked with a mission to protect students, teachers and schools. He said "Education is not merely about examinations; it is about nation-building and character-building. The vision laid down by Dr. G.N. Var continues to guide the Association in serving schools, teachers and students with dedication. I congratulate the newly elected PSA District Bandipora team and hope they will continue working collectively for strengthening affordable, quality education."

PSA Vice President Adv. Ghulam Hassan Rather highlighted the historic role played by the Association. He said "For decades, the Private Schools' Association has consistently safeguarded the interests of schools while prioritising students' welfare. The tireless contribution of Dr. G.N. Var towards institutional development deserves immense appreciation. The newly elected leadership has a great opportunity to build upon this strong foundation."

PSA General Secretary Mohammad Syed Wani described Bandipora as a district known for education, literature, art and culture. He said "Bandipora has always produced remarkable personalities who have contributed immensely to our society. The majority of our community-based schools provide affordable quality education with low fees and continue educating children even when families face financial hardships. Unlike commercial institutions, our schools never deny children the opportunity to appear in examinations due to temporary financial difficulties. We must now also strengthen skill-based education so that our students become self-reliant and prepared for future challenges."

PSA Treasurer and District President Shopian Hilal Ahmad Khan congratulated the newly elected leadership. He said "Today's democratic mandate reflects the confidence of member schools in Dr. Yasir Ramzan Bhat's leadership and his continuous contribution to the Association. As school leaders, we carry the responsibility of shaping the future of thousands of children. Our greatest duty is to produce responsible, compassionate and educated citizens."

District President Kulgam Dr. Waseem Siddique congratulated Dr. Yasir Ramzan Bhat on his re-elected as district president. He said "The overwhelming support received by Dr. Yasir Ramzan Bhat is a recognition of his commitment and dedicated service. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the entire District Bandipora team and wish them success in serving the education sector."

PSA Director, Media & Communications Dr. Owais Mattoo highlighted the Association's democratic traditions. H said "The Private Schools' Association has established a unique democratic culture where elections are conducted under the supervision of government officials and civil society members to ensure complete transparency and credibility. During the past several months, similar free and fair elections have been successfully conducted across multiple districts, strengthening unity within the Association. Unity is our greatest strength. As the Holy Qur'an teaches us to remain united, our collective purpose is to continue providing affordable, quality education with sincerity, honesty and a spirit of public service."

District President Srinagar Aadil Habib appreciated the successful conduct of the programme. He said "Today's event demonstrated the organisational strength, discipline and democratic values of the Private Schools' Association. Such collective efforts further strengthen the education movement and inspire confidence among member schools."

Newly elected District President Dr. Yasir Ramzan Bhat expressed heartfelt gratitude to all member schools. He said "I sincerely thank district administration, CEO Bandipora, every school leader, every voter, our respected guests, election officials and the entire Association for making this democratic exercise successful. I am deeply humbled by the trust reposed in me. I assure every member that I will continue working day and night for the welfare, unity and progress of private schools across District Bandipora, just as I have always done. This victory belongs to every member school and together we will further strengthen quality education and institutional unity."

Following the election, the newly elected office bearers were felicitated with ceremonial shawls, certificates and mementoes, while appreciation certificates and shawls were also presented to distinguished guests, election officials and individuals for their valuable contribution towards strengthening the education sector.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks presented by Ms. Shabnam, newly elected District Secretary and Principal of Army Goodwill School Bandipora. She thanked all delegates, school leaders, election officials, observers and guests for ensuring the success of the democratic process.

Every educational zone received fair representation, making this election truly inclusive and democratic. Together, we will continue working to strengthen the Association and uphold the highest standards of education across the district."
