| Women Wing Celebrates International Women Day | | Dogra, Rajni, Shamim highlights pioneering NC role in socio-political empowerment of women in J&K | 
Jammu, March 08 (Scoop News)- Enumerating the pioneering role of National Conference in socio-political empowerment of women in Jammu and Kashmir, Provincial President Women Wing Satwant Kour Dogra today said that female literacy and economic emancipation in particular got huge fillip over the decades.
While addressing the women workers at Sher-e- Kashmir Bhavan, Jammu Mrs Satwant Kour Dogra Provincial President Women Wing Jammu emphasized the necessity for women to assert their rights and engage actively in societal roles. She recalled the bold initiative of the National Conference in women reservation in gross root level democratic institutions and 50% seats in medical colleges, saying these paved way for carving out a big role for them in different spheres. Due to focus on female literacy, time has come when girls are excelling in academics in a big way.
Mrs Vijay Laxami Datta Senior leader and former Provincial President Women Wing Jammu remembering Madr-e-Meharban, Begum Akbar Jehan Abdullah, She acknowledged her pivotal role in the socio-political movement of Jammu and Kashmir. She recounted the role of Madr-e-Meharban courageously managed party affairs and championed the cause of women's rights and education, laying a strong foundation for future generations.
Mrs Rajni Devi Working President Women Wing highlighted initiatives taken by the Omar Abdullah-led government for women's welfare, including free travel in government buses, enchantment of marriage assistance from Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000, enhancement of Old age pension/ Handicapped pension / Widow pension and enhancements in pending welfare schemes.
Mrs Shamim Begum former DDC Danal threw light on the hardships faced by the women of J&K due to the ineffective policies of previous governments, emphasizing the need for more robust support systems.
