Chief Secretary Ashish Kundra reviews PMJVK Scheme Implementation in Ladakh


Leh, March 06 (Scoop News)- The Chief Secretary of the Union Territory of Ladakh, Shri Ashish Kundra, today chaired a meeting to review the implementation of schemes under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) and discussed the approval of various proposed projects in the Union Territory.

During the meeting, Chief Secretary Kundra reviewed several proposals submitted by different departments under PMJVK. Among the key proposals discussed was the Ladakh Floriculture Mission under the Agriculture Department.

Detailed deliberations were held on the national floriculture scenario, the project background, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and proposed budget, the expansion of the area under floriculture cultivation, and the establishment of effective domestic and international market linkages for floriculture products.

The meeting also discussed collaboration with the CSIR Floriculture Mission to strengthen the sector in Ladakh.

The meeting further deliberated on the proposal to establish a Monastic Hostel and Education Centre for Ladakhi monks and underprivileged Buddhist youth. In addition, the Chief Secretary reviewed the progress regarding the construction of the Chowkhang Vihara in Leh.

Discussions were also held on the establishment of a Centre of Excellence in Kargil, during which the project’s vision, expected benefits, and financial aspects were presented and examined.

Another key proposal reviewed during the meeting was the establishment of a Modular Operation Theatre (OT) for the Maternity and Labour Room at SNM Hospital, Leh.

Emphasising the need to strengthen healthcare infrastructure across the region, Chief Secretary Kundra stressed the importance of improving medical facilities in both Leh and Kargil districts. He directed the concerned departments to particularly focus on the development of healthcare infrastructure in remote areas such as Nyoma, Zanskar, and Drass.
The Chief Secretary also discussed the proposals submitted by the President of PAGIR regarding the construction of a DDRC (District Disability Rehabilitation Centre) to enhance medical diagnostic and treatment facilities in the region.

The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary, Dr L Franklin; Administrative Secretary, Rural Development, Shashanka Ala; Administrative Secretary, Agri & Horti, Bhupesh Chaudhary; Administrative Secretary, Tourism, Sanjit Rodrigues; Administrative Secretary, Public Works, Baseer Ul Haq Choudhary; DC Leh, Romil Singh Donk; Directors, Heads of Departments, and other senior officials. and representatives from PAGIR and LEDeG.
