AICC approves JKPCC Kisan District Chiefs; Bharat Priye thanks Congress leadership



Jammu, February 20 (Scoop News)-The Chairman of Jammu & Kashmir Kisan Congress, Shri Bharat Priye, today expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Congress High Command for approving the list of District Chairmen of the Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Kisan Congress. He thanked AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, former Congress President Sonia Gandhi, senior leader Rahul Gandhi, and AICC General Secretary K. C. Venugopal for reposing their trust in the proposed leadership and strengthening the organizational structure of the farmers’ wing in Jammu & Kashmir.

The approval was formally conveyed by the Chairman of All India Kisan Congress, Sukhpal Singh Khaira, through an official communication dated February 19, 2026. In his letter, Shri Khaira informed that the proposal submitted by the Chairman, J&K Kisan Congress, regarding the appointment of District Chairmen has been duly approved and the appointments shall come into effect immediately. He also requested that the proposed State Committee be submitted at the earliest after due diligence for further approval.

Welcoming the decision, Shri Bharat Priye stated that the approval reflects the commitment of the Congress leadership towards empowering farmers and strengthening grassroots democracy. He said that the newly appointed District Chairmen will work tirelessly to address the concerns of the farming community, amplify their voices, and ensure effective implementation of farmer-centric policies across Jammu & Kashmir.

He further emphasized that the reorganization of the District units marks a significant step towards revitalizing the Kisan Congress at the grassroots level. “The farming community of Jammu & Kashmir is facing numerous challenges, including issues related to crop losses, market access, irrigation, and fair pricing. With a strengthened district leadership, we are determined to take up these matters more effectively and ensure that the concerns of our farmers reach the highest forums,” he added.

The leaders who have been appointed as District Chairmen of the Jammu & Kashmir Kisan Congress with immediate effect included Shri Hukam Chand has been appointed as District Chairman for Ramban. Shri Abdul Ahad Mir has been appointed as District Chairman for Ganderbal, while Shri Mir Abdul Ahad will serve as District Chairman for Budgam. Shri Mohd. Lateef Mir has been appointed for Srinagar district.Shri Tarsam Paul Saini has been assigned the responsibility of Kathua district, and Shri Arun Sharma has been appointed as District Chairman for Rajouri. Shri Sikendar Azam Bhat will serve as District Chairman for Pulwama, while Shri Kamal Singh has been appointed for Reasi district.Shri Aqib Javeed Dar has been named District Chairman for Doda, and Shri Ali Mohd. Chopan will serve in Baramulla district. Shri Nazir Hussain Kalas has been appointed for Kupwara, and Shri Akib Manzoor Lone will head the Kisan Congress in Shopian district.

Shri Gh. Hassan Ganie has been appointed as District Chairman for Kulgam, while Shri Nazir Ahmad Bhat will serve in Bandipora district. Shri Darshan Lal Radwan has been entrusted with Samba district, and Shri Nazir Ahmad Ganai has been appointed for Kishtwar.Shri Shashi Kumar will serve as District Chairman for Udhampur, Shri Happy Randhawa has been appointed for Jammu Rural, and Shri Nissar Kataria will head the organization in Poonch district. Shri Mohd. Abdullah Bhat has been appointed as District Chairman for Anantnag.

Shri Bharat Priye congratulated all the newly appointed District Chairmen and urged them to immediately begin outreach programmes in their respective districts. He called upon them to strengthen booth-level committees, engage directly with farmers, and mobilize support for policies aimed at ensuring sustainable agricultural growth and rural prosperity.Reaffirming his commitment to the farmers of the Union Territory, Shri Bharat Priye said that the J&K Kisan Congress will continue to work in close coordination with the national leadership to safeguard the interests of farmers and uphold the vision of inclusive growth championed by the Congress party.
