| Preparatory Meeting for the Apricot Blossom Festival 2026 | |
Leh,February 18 (Scoop News)-ADDC Leh, Sonam Nurboo, JKAS, chaired a preparatory meeting on 18.02.2026 in the VC Room, DC Office Leh, to review arrangements for the forthcoming Apricot Blossom Festival 2026.
During the meeting, the SDMs of Khaltse and Nubra were directed to identify and submit suitable venues within their respective sub-divisions to the AD Tourism, Leh, within two days. Emphasis was placed on selecting accessible, culturally vibrant, and logistically feasible locations to enhance the overall visitor experience while preserving the local ethos.
The ADDC further advised undertaking comprehensive mapping of accommodation facilities including homestays, guest houses, hotels, and camps in villages located near the proposed festival sites to ensure seamless hospitality management for tourists.
A representative of Tours & Travels agencies, Leh, also suggested the active involvement of local tour and travel agencies as key stakeholders to strengthen coordination and promotion of the event. Additionally, he requested a focused and time-bound publicity and outreach strategy to ensure wider visibility at the UT and national levels, while also encouraging the participation of international tourists through coordinated efforts with stakeholders.
The meeting underscored the importance of robust community participation, particularly from local youth and villagers, to ensure meaningful engagement and maintain the authenticity of the festival. It was decided that the festival will feature traditional food stalls, curated village walks, and guided heritage tours to showcase the rich cultural legacy, cuisine, and lifestyle of the region.
Among those present at the meeting were the SDM Khaltse, who attended virtually, while Padma Angmo, AD Tourism Leh; Tsewang Paljor, Deputy Secretary, Cultural Academy; and a representative of Tours & Travels agencies, Leh, were present.
