Police organizes cyber awareness programme in Budgam

Srinagar, February 04 (Scoop News)- J&K Police organised a Cyber Awareness Programme at Townhall Beerwah with the objective of educating the general public, especially students and other stakeholders, about emerging cyber threats and safe online practices.

The programme was attended by the SHO Police Station Beerwah, cyber experts from Cyber Police Station Budgam, and members of the District Technical Team (DTT) Budgam.

During the programme, participants were sensitised about various forms of cyber fraud, online safety measures, and the responsible use of social media platforms. Experts advised participants to avoid sharing OTPs, passwords, and bank details with anyone, remain cautious during online financial transactions, and refrain from interacting with unknown persons on social media platforms.

Participants were urged to act as cyber ambassadors within their communities and were briefed about reporting mechanisms, including the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) and helpline number 1930.

The initiative aimed to foster collaboration among law enforcement agencies, financial institutions, telecom operators, government departments, and citizens towards building a safer and more secure digital ecosystem in district Budgam.
