Srinagar, February 02 (Scoop News)- JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla, former JKPCC Jammu District Urban President Thakur Manmohan Singh, and former Corporator Satish Sharma today visited the bereaved family and expressed profound grief and deep sorrow over the tragic and untimely passing of Hamaad, the beloved young son of prominent Congress leader Arshid Ahmed Tantray. The leaders conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the grieving family, describing the loss as irreparable and deeply painful. They said Hamaad’s life, marked by innocence and promise, was cruelly cut short in a sudden and unfortunate accident yesterday, leaving the family and the entire community in a state of shock and mourning.Raman Bhalla, while expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, said that no words can adequately console parents and loved ones facing such an immense loss. He prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and for strength, patience, and courage to the family to bear this profound tragedy. The leaders offered prayers for the departed soul and urged the Almighty to grant solace and fortitude to the grieving family as they navigate the pain of this irreplaceable loss.

Later JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla along with Thakur Manmohan Singh and Satish Sharma and accompanied by Firoza Ahmed Bhat ,District President Anantnag,Dr. Adil Farooq District President Srinagar, Abdul Rasheed Lone District President Kulgam,Danish Khan former General Secretary JKPCC, Warsi Majid Khan senior Congress leader, Nisar Ahmad Mandoo former Vice President JKPCC met aggrieved people and strongly highlighted the pressing and unresolved issues confronting the people of the Kashmir region.

During the interaction, residents expressed strong resentment over unscheduled and prolonged power cuts, particularly during peak winter months, which have thrown normal life out of gear. People complained that erratic electricity supply in sub-zero temperatures has made survival extremely difficult for children, elderly, and patients.Bhalla said it was unacceptable that people are being forced to live without electricity for long hours despite repeated assurances by the government about improved power infrastructure.“Electricity is not a luxury in Kashmir during winters; it is a basic survival need. The Union government has failed miserably to ensure uninterrupted power supply, exposing its hollow promises and complete lack of sensitivity towards the common people,” he said.

A major concern raised by farmers, orchardists, and small traders was the non-waiving of Kisan Credit Card (KCC) loans, which has pushed the agrarian community into deep financial distress. Bhalla pointed out that repeated snowfall, untimely weather events, crop damage, mounting debts, and rising input costs have shattered the rural economy.“The Congress party has consistently demanded an immediate waiver of KCC loans, but the present government continues to ignore the plight of farmers and orchardists, who are the backbone of Kashmir’s economy,” Bhalla asserted, urging the administration to act without further delay.

Raman Bhalla accused UT government and the Union Government of being disconnected from ground realities and failing to deliver timely relief or effective governance at a time when people are facing unprecedented hardships.“The administration wakes up only after crises erupt. There is no proactive planning, no accountability, and no compassion. Governance cannot be run through press statements while people suffer on the ground,” Bhalla said.

He urged the Omar government to listen to the voices of aggrieved people, immediately restore regular and uninterrupted power supply, announce a comprehensive KCC loan waiver package, ensure winter connectivity and accessibility to all areas, strengthen healthcare and ration supply mechanisms, and roll out urgent relief measures for snow-affected families.Bhalla reaffirmed that the Indian National Congress remains fully committed to safeguarding the interests, dignity, and rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and will intensify its struggle against anti-people, insensitive, and failure-driven policies both on the streets and in democratic forums until justice is delivered.

He further highlighted the economic slowdown in Kashmir, stating that traditional livelihood sectors such as tourism, handicrafts, horticulture, transport, and small businesses have suffered immensely. Raman Bhalla said frequent disruptions, lack of sustained policy support, mounting debts, and shrinking livelihood opportunities have pushed many families into severe financial hardship, with little visible relief on the ground.

Raising serious concerns over inflation and the rising cost of living, the JKPCC Working President said soaring prices of essential commodities, electricity, fuel, and basic services have compounded the misery of common people. He criticized the administration for failing to cushion the impact of price rise on economically weaker sections, daily wagers, salaried middle-class families, and pensioners, who are finding it increasingly difficult to make ends meet.

Raman Bhalla also drew attention to the poor state of healthcare and education infrastructure, particularly in rural, border, and far-flung areas of Kashmir. He said hospitals continue to face acute shortages of doctors, paramedics, medicines, and diagnostic facilities, forcing patients to travel long distances or incur heavy expenses. Similarly, understaffed schools and colleges, lack of infrastructure, and academic uncertainty are adversely affecting the future of students. He stressed that the genuine concerns of farmers, orchardists, landless families, and marginalized communities must be addressed with sensitivity, justice, and transparency.

Assuring the people, Raman Bhalla said that the Congress party stands firmly with the people of Kashmir in their struggle for justice, dignity, and inclusive development. He categorically stated that all grievances raised by the people will be forcefully taken up before the concerned authorities and at appropriate platforms to ensure their timely and effective redressal. He emphasized that the Congress will continue to play the role of a strong, constructive, and responsible opposition, relentlessly raising people-centric issues and holding the government accountable until meaningful and visible solutions are delivered on the ground and the genuine expectations of the people are fulfilled.
