Leh,January 28 (Scoop News)- in a moment of pride for the fisheries sector of the Union Territory of Ladakh the Administration of UT Ladakh conferred the prestigious LG Gold Award upon Smt. Fatima Khatoon a progressive fish farmer on the occasion of the 77th Republic Day celebrations in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the development of fisheries and aquaculture in the region. Smt. Fatima Khatoon has emerged as a leading example of entrepreneurship in aquaculture. she has significantly contributed to enhancing fish production, strengthening local livelihoods, and promoting sustainable aquaculture in Ladakh.
Her proactive participation in the centrally sponsored scheme Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) has demonstrated the immense potential of fisheries as a viable and sustainable economic activity in the region. Her achievements have not only set new benchmarks in aquaculture development but have also served as a source of inspiration for aspiring farmers particularly women to adopt fisheries as a means of livelihood and entrepreneurship.
