| T-10 Knockout cricket tournament for specially-abled persons concluded in Shopian | | Srinagar,January 08 (Scoop News)- Under the aegis of the Civic Action Programme (CAP), J&K Police in Shopian organised a T-10 Knockout Cricket Tournament for Specially-Abled Persons at Batapora Stadium Shopian. The tournament, which commenced on December 27, 2025, concluded today with an impressive and colourful closing ceremony.
The tournament witnessed participation of four teams, namely Shopian Tigers, South Kashmir Anantnag, Star Cricketers Shopian and Kulgam Cricket Club, reflecting the spirit of inclusivity and sportsmanship among specially-abled players across the region.
The tournament was inaugurated by SSP Shopian Sh. Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary-JKPS, who lauded the spirit, determination and enthusiasm displayed by the participants throughout the event. The final match was played between Shopian Tigers and Star Cricketers Shopian, in which Shopian Tigers emerged victorious by 41 runs. During the closing ceremony, SSP Shopian distributed cash prizes and trophies among the winners and runners-up, appreciating the efforts of all teams for making the tournament a grand success. The event drew a large gathering of spectators, sports lovers and members of the local community from Shopian and adjoining areas.
Addressing the participants, SSP Shopian assured them of continuous support from J&K Police and reiterated the commitment to organise more such inclusive sporting events in the future, aiming to promote confidence, social integration and overall well-being of specially-abled persons.
