Social and Tribal Welfare Department organized Veer Bal Diwas 2025

Leh, December 26 (Scoop News)-The Department of Social and Tribal Welfare, Union Territory of Ladakh, organized a state-level celebration of Veer Bal Diwas 2025 (26 December 2025) to honour the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of children.

The programme commenced with the live telecast of the address by the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, who distributed the "Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar" on the occasion.

The state-level programme was graced by the Deputy Commissioner Leh, Shri. Romil Singh Donk (IAS), as the Guest of Honour. Other dignitaries included Smt. Kunzes Angmo, Director, Social and Tribal Welfare Department, Shri. A.G. Zargar, DPO (ICDS), Leh, Shri. Safder Bhat, District Social Welfare Officer, Leh / District Child Protection Officer, Leh, Dr. Subrath Sharma, Dean Academics, University of Ladakh, and Dr. Phuntsog Angmo, Chief Proctor, University of Ladakh, Smt. Youdol, CDPO Leh, along with officers and staff of the Social Welfare Department, UT Ladakh.

The dignitaries were formally welcomed by the District Social Welfare Officer, Leh. Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner Leh emphasized that children are the future of the nation and described Veer Bal Diwas as a moment of reflection, remembrance, resilience, and responsibility. Director, Social and Tribal Welfare Department, Ms. Kunzes Dolma, briefed the audience on the activities conducted in Child Care Institutions (CCIs) across UT Ladakh during the Veer Bal Diwas week.

A brief PowerPoint presentation on History and significance of the Veer Bal Diwas was presented, emphasising on ‘collective responsibility’ towards child rights and safety. Appreciation awards and certificates were presented to meritorious and resilient children from various Child Care Institutions by the Deputy Commissioner Leh and Director, Social and Tribal Welfare Department.

The highlight and culmination of the event was the live telecast & address by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, who called upon the nation to draw inspiration from the courage of the Sahibzadas and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to child welfare, protection, empowerment, and nation-building towards the Viksit Bharat 2047.
