| National Mathematics Day celebrations commenced at University of Ladakh, Leh Campus | | Leh, December 18 (Scoop News)- The Department of Mathematics, University of Ladakh, Leh Campus, in collaboration with Eliezer Joldan Memorial College, commenced the National Mathematics Day celebrations on 17/12/2025 organised under the patronage of the Honorable Vice Chancellor, University of Ladakh, Prof. Saket Kushwaha and with gracious support from Prof. Stanzin Yangdol, Principal, Eliezer Joldan Memorial College.
The inauguration ceremony marked the beginning of a day-long celebration focused on showcasing the beauty and significance of Mathematics. The event featured a presentation competition, a quiz competition, and a documentary screening. Faculty and students of the Department of Mathematics, University of Ladakh, and Eliezer Joldan Memorial College were present for the celebrations.
Ten students from the Department of Mathematics, University of Ladakh, and Eliezer Joldan Memorial College competed in the presentation competition. Their presentations featured a range of topics, varying from ‘Mathematicians of Ancient India’ and ‘Discovery of Zero’ to ‘Mathematics in Daily Life’. Their presentations were judged by a jury of three judges from the University of Ladakh: Dr. Jyoti Falswal, Dr. Irshad Ahmad, and Dr. Masoom Reza.
A documentary on the life of Srinivasa Ramanujan was also screened. After the screening, the students participated in a quiz competition. The quiz competition saw participation from nineteen students. The quiz was based largely on the life and significant works of the genius Srinivasa Ramanujan.
The day-long event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students. The results of these competitions will be declared at the concluding event of National Mathematics Day on 22nd December. The celebration will consist of an expert talk and a prize distribution event.
