Nizam-ud-Din Bhat chairs meeting of Committee on Privileges, discusses protocols of Legislators


Jammu, December 16 (Scoop News)- A meeting of the Committee on Privileges of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly was held today under the Chairmanship of MLA, Nizam-ud-Din Bhat, at Assembly Complex, Jammu to deliberate on issues related to the constitutional privileges and entitlements of Legislators.

Legislators, Vikram Randhawa, Riyaz Ahmad Khan, Salman Sagar, Javaid Iqbal, Dr Narinder Singh Raina and Dr Bharat Bhushan besides Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Manoj Kumar Pandit were present in the meeting.

Threadbare discussions were held on various issues related to privileges and protocols in respect ofembers of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. Besides, present status of observations made by the Committee in its previous meetings was also deliberated upon.

Commissioner Secretary, GAD, M Raju; Secretary, H&P Department, Niraj Kumar and Secretary, Law, Justice and PA, Achal Sethi were also present in the meeting.

The Committee was informed that the concerned departments have deliberated upon the observations made by the Committee in its previous meetings and a proposal in this regard has been prepared and forwarded to the CM for approval.

The Chairman directed the officers to share entire deliberations in respect of proposal forwarded to the Chief Minister with the Committee in its next meeting.

The members gave their valuable suggestions to make the Committee more vibrant and result oriented. They stressed on maintaining protocols to safeguard the dignity and effective functioning of elected representatives.

Earlier, the Committee observed two minute silence on the demise of mother of Secretary Law, Justice and PA, Achal Sethi.

Among others, senior officers of the concerned departments and Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
