| Government Polytechnic Reasi organized various activities to observe World AIDS Day | |
Jammu, December 02 (Scoop News)-Red Ribbon Club of Government Polytechnic College Reasi in collaboration with J&K State AIDS Control society organized various activities in the institution to commemorate the Worlds AIDS Day. The activities were conducted under the guidance of Principal Er Arun Bangotra, Government Polytechnic Reasi. The programme was designed to educate students and the local community about HIV/AIDS prevention, early detection, and the importance of eliminating stigma. More than 50 students participated in the Poster making competition with great zeal and enthusiasm and expressed their thought through posters. The first prize went to Rinku Kumar 1st semester student of Mechanical Engg, while second prize was won by Sameer Thappa 2nd semester Electrical Engg. student and third prize went to Suresh Kumar, 3rd semester Mechanical Engg. In the Debate Competition 12 students shared their views on Worlds AIDS day and the theme of the competition was Equalize: Achieving equality to end HIV. The winners were Aarti Sharma, 1st prize, Abza Akhter, 2nd prize and Palvi Devi 3rd prize, all from Computer Engineering, 1st Semester. In Rangoli Competition, 3 teams comprising of 12 students participated and the 1st prize was awarded to Khushi, Kanika Devi and team from 3rd semester Computer. On the occasion an Awareness Rally was also organised in which approximately 150 students along with staff marched through the town, disseminating prevention messages to the public and Educate and make yourself aware—protect your entire family from the disease of AIDS! On the occasion an Awareness Session by also organised by Ms. Ayushi and Ms. Nisha faculty of the college who delivered a keynote speech emphasizing early testing, safe practices and the need to eradicate discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS. Er. Arun Bangotra, Principal Govt. Polytechnic Reasi interacted with the students and educate them regarding how to combat with the disease. The main aim for the event was to make the students aware that HIV continues to be global health concern due to a number of shortcomings, including division, inequality and contempt for human rights and we need to aware the masses of the same. The programme was organized under the supervision of faculty of college Mr. Ajay Dogra, Nodal officer, and organising team comprising Er Himanshu Bakshi, Vandana, Parshotam, Vaishali, Akanksha and Esha the members of Red Ribbon Club.
