| India Skills Competition 2025 for Graphic Design Technology held at EJM College, Leh | | 
Leh, November 29 (Scoop News)- The State-Level (UT Ladakh) India Skills Competition 2025 in Graphic Design Technology was successfully conducted today at Eliezer Joldan Memorial (EJM) College, Leh.
The event was organised by the Ladakh Skill Development Mission (LSDM) under the scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, and fully funded by MSDE.
The India Skills Competition aims to identify, nurture, and reward talented individuals in various skills, trades and occupations, aligning Indian skill standards with global benchmarks.
Six participants (three each from Leh and Kargil districts), who had qualified at the district-level competition, took part in the state-level competition in Graphic Design Technology . They demonstrated their creativity, technical expertise, and practical abilities through hands-on test projects.
The Chief Guest of the event, Smt. Bhanu Prabha, IAS, Secretary, Technical Education & Skill Development/Higher Education Department, stated that the UT Administration is fully committed to initiatives that enhance the skills of Ladakhi youth and provide them platforms to showcase their talent at national and international levels.
She announced that LSDM will organise dedicated boot-camp training for the state-level winners to prepare them for the upcoming Regional Level Competitions, to be conducted by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under MSDE guidance in December 2025–January 2026.
She also thanked the Media and Entertainment Skills Council (MESC) for its continued support in conducting Graphic Design skill courses at skill centres across the Union Territory and for providing master jury support for judging the state-level India Skills Competition 2025 in Graphic Design Technology.
She further informed that cash prizes and certificates will be awarded to both district- and state-level winners in recognition of their skills. Highlighting the importance of skill development among students, she revealed that new skill courses will soon be introduced in colleges in consultation with stakeholders, including a dedicated Artificial Intelligence (AI) course to be launched in collaboration with NIELIT Leh.
She assured full support from the UT Administration to train students to compete at national and international levels.
Smt. Bhanu Prabha appreciated the participants, trainers, and college administration for smoothly conducting the competition while maintaining national-level standards. She urged Ladakhi youth to actively participate in skill-based programmes, emphasising that India Skills offers valuable exposure, NSQF-aligned credit certification, and promising career opportunities. She congratulated all participants and expressed confidence that the winners would proudly represent Ladakh at regional, national, and WorldSkills levels.
Prof. Stanzin Yangdol, Principal, EJM College Leh, delivered the welcome address. Mr. Abied Hussain, Assistant Director, Technical Education, and OSD to the Secretary, highlighted the significance of the India Skills Competitions 2025. He thanked the Principal and instructors of the college for successfully hosting the India Skills Competition 2025 in the UT.
Participants from EJM Leh, and GDC Kargil shared that the competition provided them valuable exposure and motivated them to further hone their graphic design skills.
The top two winners of the state-level in Graphic Design Technology competition will now represent UT Ladakh at the regional stage, with the opportunity to progress to the National and WorldSkills competitions 2026.
Similar state-level competitions in Fashion Technology and Beauty Therapy are being held at Government Degree College, Kargil, on 28–29 November 2025.
Ms. Hajira Banoo, HoD, Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, EJM College Leh, conducted the proceedings of the event. Later, the Secretary inspected the competition setup, observed the participants in action, interacted with them, and reviewed the projects created under the India Skills training modules. Among those present were Prof. Stanzin Yangdol, Principal, EJM College Leh; Mr. Abied Hussain, Assistant Director, Technical Education & OSD; Ms. Hajira Banoo, HoD, Mass Communication and Journalism; Mr. Sonam Gyalson, Convenor, Skills, EJM College; Mr. Tawseef Ahmed, Instructor, Graphic Design Course; Faculty from various departments; and students enrolled in skill courses.
The UT Administration is committed to hone the technical skills of Ladakh’s youth. The 11 skilling courses currently offered through 16 skill centres located in all 6 degree colleges of Ladakh bear testimony to the Higher Education Department’s determination to equip students with relevant skills and make them future-ready. Only an educated and skilled younger generation can turn the vision of Viksit Bharat into reality.
