| State Taxes Department holds day long workshop on GST Analytics, Fraud Detection Portal | | Jammu, November 28 (Scoop News)- State Taxes Department (STD) today conducted a day-long capacity-building workshop on newly developed GST Analytics and Fraud Detection Portal, a state-of-the-art technology platform shaped in collaboration with Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-informatics (BISAG-N).
The workshop was chaired by Commissioner, STD P.K. Bhat.
Additional Commissioner (Administration and Enforcement), Jammu, Namrita Dogra; Additional Commissioner, (Administration and Enforcement) Kashmir, Parveez Ahmad Raina; State Tax Officers (STOs) from both divisions and other officers of the department were present, either in person or through video conferencing.
In his inaugural address, the Commissioner emphasized the pivotal role of technology-driven analytics in transforming tax administration, detecting fraud proactively, and augmenting revenue collection in a transparent and efficient manner. He urged all officers to make optimal use of the portal and treat it as an indispensable tool in their day-to-day enforcement and assessment functions.
The Commissioner directed all Divisional and Circle-level officers to use the portal regularly to familiarize themselves with its functionalities and derive maximum benefit for enforcement and compliance management.
During the workshop, a detailed technical overview and live demonstration of the portal was presented by Additional Commissioner (Administration and Enforcement), Jammu, Namrita Dogra. She highlighted advanced features of the portal, including real-time data analytics, risk profiling of taxpayers, automated fraud alerts, geospatial mapping of business activities, mismatch detection, and predictive modelling for potential revenue leakage.
She added that the portal, powered by cutting-edge data science and machine learning algorithms, enables officers to identify suspicious patterns, track input tax credit chains, detect carousel frauds, and pinpoint high-risk taxpayers with greater precision and speed than traditional manual methods.
During the workshop, the officers were encouraged to actively provide feedback on the existing columns, dashboards, and reports, suggesting additions or deletions wherever required so that the portal can be further refined and customized to meet the specific operational needs of the department. The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from State Tax Officers and Enforcement Officials from both Jammu and Kashmir divisions.
The interactive session concluded with a resolve to leverage this technology-driven initiative for strengthening GST compliance, curbing tax evasion, and ensuring higher revenue realization for the Union Territory. The State Taxes Department reiterated its commitment to adopting innovative digital solutions to make tax administration more scientific, transparent, and taxpayer friendly.
