Mirpuries paid glowing Tribute to the Martyrs of Mirpur
Jammu, November 25 (Scoop News)- Mirpuries residing in Jammu city and its peripheral colonies today paid glowing floral tribute to more than 16,000 Martyrs of Mirpur who were brutally killed by Pakistani raiders on 25th, 26th and 27th November 1947. The only fault of the citizens of Mirpur (now in PoK) was that they had unitedly vowed to protect their birth land from the raiders till they had the last bullet to fight with.
In this connection, a large Prabhat Pheri consisting of men, women and school children of the Mirpur community residing in Gurha and Bakshi Nagar (Jammu) started from Mirpur Chowk (in front of Spring Blossoms School) and reached Mirpur Shaheedi Smarak, Maheshpura Chowk, in front of the main gate of Govt. Medical College, Jammu, at 9:00 A.M., where similar Prabhat Pheries from Rehari, Sarwal and Gandhi Nagar also joined to pay floral tributes to the Martyrs.
This Smarak has now become a central place for all the other organizations of displaced persons from PoK to pay tributes to their Martyrs on their respective dates.
Arvind Gupta, MLA Jammu West-78, inaugurated the Jyoti Prajwalan at the said Smarak. Soon thereafter, in his address, he highly appreciated the pious role and dedicated spirit of the Mirpuries in keeping the memory of the Martyrs alive, even after 78 years. All the persons present there cheered gladly when Arvind Gupta promised that within one year, the Mirpur community will have this Smarak upgraded with a much better outlook.
Lastly, Arvind Gupta, who is the tireless and dedicated leader of our constituency, advised us to maintain this dedicated spirit to remember the sacrifice of the Martyrs of Mirpur in the years to come.
During the Prabhat Pheri, many people residing in Bakshi Nagar served tea and light refreshments as a token of their love to the participants of the Prabhat Pheri. The whole programme of the Prabhat Pheri was compered by Ravi Kant Gupta very nicely and successfully.
Pathetic (emotional) poems on the occasion, read by Ved Prakash Gupta and C.P. Gupta, brought tears to the eyes of the listeners. The speeches made by Mrs. Santosh Gupta, Mrs. Madhu Gupta and Sr. Dheeraj Singh were also highly appreciated by the audience.
Raghav Gupta, General Secretary, nicely coordinated the Prabhat Pheri and, at the end of the function, presented a vote of thanks to all.
