| Students of GMS Minji Shine in Play Highlighting Human-Animal Harmony | | Kargil,November 05 (Scoop News)-On the concluding day of the 20-day theatre workshop, Government Middle School Gongma Minji, Kargil, put up a thought-provoking stage show titled “Jahaan Sapne Sach Lagte Hain” in collaboration with Theatre in Education (T.I.E.) Srinagar (J&K), National School of Drama (NSD). The workshop and performance were organized by renowned actor, director and NSD Alumni Kacho Ahmad Khan. The workshop was held in the school while the stage performance was held in the Auditorium Hall.
The event was graced by Executive Councillor, LAHDC-Kargil Zakir Hussain as Chief Guest and Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Imteeaz Kacho as Guest of Honour. The LAHDC Councillor of Baroo-Minji Advocate Khadim Hussain; Assistant Director, Information, Raza Ali; ZEPO-Kargil, Zahra Bano and other guests were also present on the occasion.
The stage performance “Jahaan Sapne Sach Lagte Hain” was scripted, designed and directed by Dipankar Paul. He was ably assisted by Kacho Ahmad Khan as Assistant Director and Shekhar Kanwat on the lights. The highlight of the event was the mesmerizing performance by the school children who showcased their talent and creativity through a thought-provoking play that blended innocence with the essence of village life while reflecting on the darker realities of human-animal conflict.
Through their performance, the children conveyed a powerful message about the need to protect wildlife and to follow the rules and regulations meant for their preservation. The central theme, “Kar Le Dosti”, beautifully emphasized friendship and harmony between humans and animals. The play also explored several sub-themes, including human-animal conflict, the pressures of modern life and the need for compassion and ecological balance. It concluded with the touching line “Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai”, leaving the audience inspired by its message of coexistence and care.
In his address, ADC Imteeaz Kacho appreciated the commendable performance of the young artists and lauded the efforts of TIE/NSD Srinagar team and the role/contribution of Kacho Ahmad Khan for guiding the trainees/ participants with immense dedication. He also welcomed Dipankar Paul and his team on their visit to Kargil. From the ecological perspective, he pointed out that increasing human-animal conflicts call for awareness through such creative initiatives. He also urged people to inform authorities in case of encounters with animals instead of taking harmful actions and cautioned against hunting that disrupts the ecological balance.
Kacho further said that due to awareness campaigns and sincere efforts of the Wildlife Department and Non-Governments organizations, the population of the rare brown bear species has shown a gradual increase — a positive sign for wildlife conservation. As a token of appreciation, TIE/NSD Srinagar members were felicitated for their remarkable contribution towards helping the school children enhance their skills and explore their potential. The play’s overarching theme revolved around ecology and environmental balance, inspiring everyone to live in harmony with nature and all its creatures.
While speaking on the occasion, the LAHDC Councillor Advocate Khadim Hussain appreciated the role of son-of-the-soil Kacho Ahmed Khan who belongs to Minji and expressed gratitude to the TIE/NSD team. He said that the concept and idea of ‘Theatre in Education’ should be replicated in the schools of Kargil District.
