Maj Gopi Singh, Shaurya Chakra memorial North Kashmir held Footbal Premier league 2025

Srinagar, October 14 (KIP)-North Kashmir Football Premier League is conducted annually by Bandipora Rashtriya Rifles in the memory of Maj Gopi Singh Rathore, Shaurya Chakra. Over the past two decades, this tournament has grown into one of the most prestigious sporting events of North Kashmir, with participation rising manifold and showcasing the boundless passion of Kashmiri youth for football as a sports.
Due to the popularity and to cover complete North Kashmir, Thisyear the tournament was conducted in two phases. The matches drew large local spectators and created a festive sporting spirit. The best two teams from each sector were selected for the phase II.
The tournament witnessed the participation of 32 teams, the highest in last two decades representing the Manasbal, Pohrupeth, Charkot and Pattan areas. The competition showcased the enthusiasm of local players displaying remarkable, sportsman skills, stamina and discipline for football as sports.
The final was played on 13 October 2025 at the Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium, Bandipora, between Hyderbeigh FC Yadipora and Meetu Football Club. A spirited spectators of more than 3,000 witnessed the final football match and cheered for their teams, creating a lively and festive atmosphere in Bandipura.
The match was graced by the presence of General Officer Commanding, CIF (K) along with senior officials of District Administration, J&K Police and CRPF.
Throughout the competition, the participating teams demonstrated zeal, discipline and exemplary sportsmanship, while the inviting of thousands of spectators reaffirmed Bandipora’s reputation as the cradle of sports in the Kashmir Valley.
The tournament is organized to identify young football talent in Kashmir and increase team spirit and strengthen social bonds among local youth. Beyond sports, the initiative has provided for there impetus to goodwill and trust between the local population and the Indian Army, reaffirming the Army’s commitment towards community development and youth engagement in Kashmir through sports competitions.
The 2025 edition of North Kashmir football premier league will be remembered as a landmark celebration of sportsmanship, enthusiasm and unity, paying befitting tribute to the legacy of Maj Gopi Singh Rathore, Shaurya Chakra.
