Police takes action against shopkeeper for obstruction & environmental pollution in Kupwara
Srinagar,October 09 (Scoop News)-Continuing its sustained efforts to maintain public discipline, hygiene and environmental protection, Police in Kupwara took action against a shopkeeper for causing obstruction and environmental damage in the Iqbal Market area of Kupwara town.

During routine patrolling by a police party from Police Post Bazaar Kupwara, a shopkeeper was found dumping dirt and waste material on a public pathway, causing inconvenience to pedestrians. The individual was also seen throwing the waste into a nearby stream, leading to environmental pollution.

Such irresponsible acts not only disrupt public movement but also contribute to pollution of water bodies and degradation of the local ecosystem. It has been observed that a few shopkeepers habitually engage in such practices, despite repeated awareness efforts by the authorities.

In this connection, legal action under Section 36 of the Police Act has been initiated against the erring shopkeeper.

J&K Police urges all shopkeepers and residents to act responsibly, maintain cleanliness and avoid dumping waste on roads, pathways, or into natural water bodies.
