J&K Police conducts inspection of SIM vendors to prevent SIM misuse in Anantnag, Kulgam, Sopore & Handwara

Srinagar, October 08 (Scoop News)-In a continued effort to strengthen internal security and prevent the misuse of mobile communication services, J&K Police conducted special inspections of SIM card vendors in Anantnag, Kulgam, Sopore & Handwara.

In Anantnag, J&K Police teams carried out surprise checks at several locations to ensure strict compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC) norms, thorough verification of documents, and to curb the unauthorized activation of SIM cards without valid credentials. During the inspections, officers interacted with vendors and underscored their responsibility in safeguarding communication networks from being exploited for unlawful or anti-national activities. Vendors were categorically instructed to adhere to all KYC and documentation guidelines issued by the authorities.

In Kulgam, Police teams carried out surprise checks at multiple locations to ensure strict compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC) norms, proper verification of customer documents, and to curb unauthorized activation of SIM cards without valid credentials. During the inspections, officers interacted with vendors and emphasized their crucial role in maintaining the integrity of communication networks.

In Sopore, J&K Police conducted surprise inspections of SIM vendors across Police District Sopore. The drive focused on verifying documentation, KYC compliance, and adherence to Department of Telecommunications (DoT) guidelines to ensure transparency and prevent fraudulent SIM issuance. Vendors were sensitized about the mandatory customer verification procedures and warned of strict legal action for any violation.

In Handwara, J&K Police conducted a special drive to check SIM vendors in Main Town Handwara. The drive was carried out under the supervision of senior police officers, during which multiple SIM card selling outlets were inspected. The vendors were thoroughly checked for adherence to the guidelines issued by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and law enforcement agencies.

The drive is part of ongoing efforts by J&K Police to enhance public safety, curb misuse of communication channels, and prevent potential security threats.

J&K Police urge social media users to act responsibly and refrain from posting, sharing, or circulating unverified and misleading content that may disturb public peace, tranquillity, or defame individuals. Strict legal action shall be taken against those found involved in such unlawful acts.
