Dean, School of Legal Studies, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Mir, in his address, invoked Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy, stressing that cleanliness transcends physical spaces—it encompasses cleanliness of thoughts, actions, governance, justice delivery, and social conduct. Quoting Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, he emphasised that a truly clean nation can only be achieved when parents, teachers, and students internalise cleanliness as a way of life. “Cleanliness is not merely the responsibility of sanitary workers; it is a collective responsibility of every citizen,” Prof. Mir underscored. By aligning cleanliness with progress, and nation-building, the CUKashmir, Prof. Mir said, has reaffirmed its commitment to shape responsible citizens who serve society with dedication and integrity.
Speaking on the occasion, Dean, School of Life Sciences, Prof. Abid Hamid Dar, hailed the contribution of students, faculty, and organisers for ensuring the campaign’s success. He stressed that cleanliness is not optional but imperative for a nation aspiring towards progress. “As India is steadily advancing on the path of growth and development, we must envision a new India free from pollution. To achieve Viksit Bharat @ 2047—the dream envisioned by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji—students must play a vital role in this journey,” Prof. Abid Hamid remarked. He described cleanliness as pivotal in shaping India into a developed nation.
The students who participated in the campaign shared their experiences and spoke about the opportunities provided by the university. They expressed gratitude to the administration for organising a variety of activities, which not only enriched their learning but also allowed them to contribute meaningfully to society.
Earlier, Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Irfan Aalam, gave a comprehensive account of the Seva Parv-2025 activities carried out across different campuses since September 17. He remarked that the campaign was not a cluster of isolated events but a holistic endeavour encompassing physical cleanliness, ecological awareness, health consciousness, cultural advocacy, and community service. “Each initiative was a step towards embedding cleanliness into our personal and collective ethos,” he said. He appreciated the commitment and zeal shown by the students, faculty and organising team throughout the fortnight.
NSS Coordinator, Dr. Shabir Ahmad, enumerated the numerous initiatives taken under the campaign. These included cleanliness drives, poster-making, debates, essay-writing, awareness rallies, digital hygiene workshops, plantation drives, and cultural events—all converging on the central theme of promoting cleanliness as an ethic of life.
