Tariq Hameed Karra, G.A.Mir, others pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri on their Jayanti | recollect selfless services, supreme sacrifices of Mahatma Gandhi for the Nation | Srinagar, October 02 (Scoop News)-The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Thursday remembered father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his Jayanti and paid the departed leader floral tributes. JKPCC also remembered Lal Bahadur Shastri on his Jayanti, recollecting the selfless services of both towards Nation building and people empowerment.
J&K Pradesh Congress Committee held an impressive tribute function at Srinagar Party Office to mark the Jayanti of father of the Nation and Former Prime Minister of India Lal Bahadur Shastri. The event witnessed participation of a large number of Party workers from all the districts including frontal organization workers.
JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra alongwith AICC General Secretary & CLP Leader Ghulam Ahmad Mir and other Senior Party leaders and Legislators including Ex. MLA Bashir Ahmad Magray, MLA Nizam Ud Din Bhat, Irfan Hafeez Lone, Surinder Singh Channi, Nissar Ahmad Mandoo, Shameema Raina, Abdul Raheem Rather, Abid Kashmiri, Irfan Naqib, Media Coordinator Audil Farooq Mir (Lasjan) Distt Coordinators and District Presidents of Kashmir region paid floral tributes to father of the Nation and Former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on their Jayanti and hailed their great contributions and selfless services towards the unity, prosperity and inclusive development of India.
Speaking on the occasion, JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra said Mahatma Gandhi led India's freedom struggle against the suppression and oppression unleashed against people of India by British Colonial rule. His uncompromising fight and tireless efforts without any violence forced the British to leave, with the result India achieved freedom from the British which had entered India under the garb of the East India company.
Mahatma Gandhi was an ideologist and philosophist, who made the non-violence and peace his weapon to fight the barbarism and suppression, which will continue to lead people at the path of peace and harmony, Karra said.
On this Gandhi Jayanti, we are confronted with a harsh reality of communal politics unleashed by BJP RSS in the country, which Gandhi always considered a blot on the multiplicity and secular fabric of great Nation (India). We need to follow the path adopted by the Mahama in true sense and defeat the designs of forces inimical to peace and harmony in the country.
Karra also highlighted the great contributions of Lal Bahadur Shastri towards inclusive development of India, he will always be remembered as an agriculture reformist, a leader with courage and sagacity.
Later, JKPCC President addressed a Block Presidents conference of Kashmir region, urging them to utilize their potential to further strengthen the Organization and serve people to the best of their ability.
The aim of the block President’s conference was to further rejuvenate the block committees for the launch of Har Ghar Dastak Ghar Ghar Dastak movement to reiterate Congress Party’s strong urge for restoration of Statehood to J&K, besides the upcoming signature campaign against the vote theft by ECI-BJP collusion.
Speaking on the occasion, AICC General Secretary and CLP Leader Ghulam Ahmad Mir highlighted Gandhi's philosophy of peace and non-violence, saying that his great contributions and supreme sacrifices for the Nation shall continue to inspire leading the world on the path of non-violence and peace.
