Government Polytechnic College organised a training and awareness program

Reasi, September 18 (Scoop News)-Government Polytechnic College in collaboration with State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Reasi successfully today organised a training and awareness program on Disaster Management in the college which was attended by the staff and approx. 250 students. The programme was organised as a part of on-going ‘Sewa Parv’ from 17th September to 2nd October 2025, organised under the guidance of Administrative Department Skill Development Department (J&K) and District Administration Reasi. The programme was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police DAR Sarbjeet Singh. The programme was conducted under the able guidance of Arun Bangotra Principal of College who thanked the team from SDRF on successful completion of this programe aimed to build a more prepared and resilient community. The Incharge team from SDRF DPL line ASI Suresh Kumar and instructors Nirmal Kumar and Kashmir Singh and team members CT Narinder Kumar and Bharat Bushan provided critical knowledge and skills to staff and students, focused on equipping individuals with the tools to respond effectively to various emergency situations.
The students were provided with essential skills, including disaster preparedness, "Do's and Don'ts" for different types of disasters, including earthquakes, floods, landslides, and cloudbursts. The program also included a practical sessions on CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), fire fighting, and managing road accidents. Students were instructed on essential first aid techniques, including FBAD (Foreign Body Airway Obstruction) and different types of bleeding, and how to properly apply splinting and bandages. The training also covered safe methods for lifting and moving individuals with fractures in emergency situations. By empowering citizens with these lifesaving skills, the SDRF aims to create a network of first responders who can act swiftly and effectively during times of crisis.
The program also addressed the critical social issues, including drug abuse and women empowerment, for holistic community development beyond disaster response. On the occasion student and staff also took pledge on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The programme was coordinated by Mr Ajay Dogra, Instructor of the college. Other present on the occasion were staff of the college including, Mr Himanshu Bakshi, Mr Sunil Kumar, Mr Parshotam Lal, staff members of SDRF, and students of the college.
