Pawan Sharma Voices Concern Over J&K Flash Floods
Calls for Urgent Relief & Rehabilitation

Jammu, August 29 (Scoop News)-Senior BJP leader and State Secretary, Pawan Sharma, has expressed deep concern and grief over the tragic situation arising in various parts of Jammu and Kashmir due to incessant rainfall and flash floods.

In a statement issued here today, Sharma said that the recent calamity has caused massive destruction of life and property, leaving several areas devastated. "The economic losses suffered by the people are immense, with countless houses and shops damaged, roads and bridges washed away, and essential transport and communication networks badly disrupted," he said.

Highlighting the tragic loss of more than 30 precious lives of Vaishno Devi pilgrims, Sharma conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls. "This tragedy has shaken us all, and the government must prioritize immediate relief to the affected families," he added.

He urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to take swift and coordinated measures to ensure relief, rehabilitation, and restoration of normalcy. "Immediate steps must be taken to restore road connectivity so that thousands of stranded people can safely reach their destinations. Alongside, the government must also ensure the speedy restoration of water and electricity supply to every household, as people are already facing extreme hardship due to the disruption of essential services," Sharma emphasized.

Reiterating the BJP’s commitment to stand with the people of Jammu and Kashmir during this testing time, Sharma said that all stakeholders must work together to provide relief and rebuild what has been lost. "The focus must be on a well-coordinated rehabilitation plan that not only addresses immediate needs but also ensures long-term measures to prevent such devastation in the future," he said.

Sharma appealed to the administration, civil society, and volunteer organizations to extend maximum possible help to the victims. "Together, we can overcome this challenge and ensure that the affected people get timely support and a chance to rebuild their lives with dignity," he concluded.
