On Raksha Bandhan, sisters should avoid 'Chinese Rakhis' and prefer indigenous ones: Sanjita Dogra

Jammu, August 07 (Scoop News)-On the auspicious festival of Raksha Bandhan, an appeal is made to sisters across the country to boycott Chinese rakhis and adopt indigenous, India-made rakhis. This step will not only make the festival more meaningful but also strengthen national campaigns like ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-reliant India).

Sanjeeta Dogra, General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jammu & Kashmir, urged the party’s prominent women members to follow this practice during a meeting held at the party office.

Sanjeeta Dogra stated that every year, a large number of cheap rakhis from China flood the Indian markets. Although their attractive designs may appeal to people, they are often of poor quality and harmful to local artisans and crafts people. In contrast, artisans from various states of India handcraft beautiful rakhis that reflect our art, culture, and traditions.

She emphasized that promoting such indigenous products will support domestic industries and secure the livelihoods of millions of families. It will also help preserve the country's traditional arts and crafts.

Buying rakhis made in India will reduce dependence on foreign goods and strengthen the country’s economy.

Sanjeeta Dogra further said that a small rakhi can become a symbol of patriotism. By embracing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's messages of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Vocal for Local,’ we must all ensure that local products are given priority.

On this Raksha Bandhan, when sisters tie Indian-made rakhis on their brothers’ wrists, it will not only symbolize love but also serve as a strong step toward nation-building.

During the meeting, Sanjeeta also emphasized that sisters should make their brothers promise not to use deadly Chinese kite strings if they engage in kite flying.

Neha Mahajan President Mahila Morcha, Babita Bhatt vice president, Usha Rajput secretary, Suman Raina treasurer, Santosh protocol Incharge and others took part in this meeting.
