GDC Samba hosts Inter-College Competitions Celebrating 79th Independence Day | | Jammu, August 07 (Scoop News)-In connection with the 79th Independence Day Celebrations, Shri Pandit Prem Nath Dogra Govt. Degree College Samba hosted Inter-college Essay Writing, Seminar, Painting Competitions and a Plantation Drive titled “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”, aiming at promoting national pride, creativity and intellectual engagement among students. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from GDC Ramgarh, GDC Purmandal, GDC Ghagwal and the host college GDC Samba. The Essay Writing Competition was based on the theme, “Role of Education in Promoting Peace and National Unity” and the seminar focussed on “ Role of J&K Youth in achieving Viksit Bharat@2047”. The Painting Competition on the theme “Portraits of Unsung Heroes of Independence” was also held providing students with an opportunity to creatively pay tribute to forgotten freedom fighters. The plantation drive encouraged the students to honour their Mothers and Mother Earth through tree planting. In Essay Writing Competition, Ritika Sharma from GDC Samba secured the first position followed by Bhumika Sharma from GDC Ramgarh and Taniya Devi from GDC Ghagwal. In the Seminar, Suvidha Sambyal from GDC Samba stood first, Ria Devi from GDC Ghagwal and Poonam Sharma from GDC Purmandal securing second and third position. In the Painting Competition, the first prize was bagged by Sheetal Devi from GDC Samba, Shabnam Devi from GDC Ghagwal and Sonika Devi from GDC Ramgarh, getting second and third positions respectively. The jury included Dr. Banpreet Kour and Dr. Vaani Awasthi in Seminar, Dr. Anamika Baru and Dr. Shabila Wani in Painting and Dr. Anupama Sharma and Dr. Vaani Awasthi in Essay Writing. The Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Twinkle Suri while commending the role of National Heroes, underlined the contribution of young students in making India a resilient and thriving Nation.
