CEC Dr. Jaffer Akhoon Meets Delegation from Nanritam Educational NGO
to Explore Educational Reforms in Kargil

Kargil,August 04 (Scoop News)- Hon’ble Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (HCEC), LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today held a meeting with a delegation from Nanritam, an educational NGO actively working to improve learning outcomes through its “Education for All” initiative. The meeting was also attended by Hon’ble Executive Councillor for Education, Kacho Mohd Feroz.

The delegation was led by Ranjana Sengupta, General Secretary, and Sarada Namhata, Joint Secretary of Nanritam. They presented an overview of their ongoing initiatives in Leh and Kargil districts, which include teacher training workshops focusing on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the Holistic Progress Report Card (HPC).

Nanritam’s programme has empowered a significant number of teachers from both government and private schools through training modules that emphasize competency-based, child-centered education. The sessions promote foundational literacy and numeracy, especially in early grades, and use engaging, interactive methods to simplify science and math concepts. Additionally, the NGO offers health services for school children particularly anaemic and optic problem students by diagnosing root causes and providing medical support.

Dr. Jaffer Akhoon commended the NGO’s efforts and noted that the transition from JKBOSE to CBSE poses challenges that require foundational strengthening for students. He emphasized that both LAHDC Kargil and the UT Administration of Ladakh are working diligently to raise the quality of education and ensure students are well-prepared under the new system.

He assured the delegation that Nanritam’s Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would be reviewed in consultation with stakeholders to explore its suitability for wider implementation in Kargil. “We hope to work closely with Nanritam to identify root issues and provide rightful solutions to improve learning outcomes in the district,” he said.

Executive Councillor Kacho Mohd Feroz also appreciated the initiative and expressed willingness to extend all necessary support for future collaboration.
