DC Leh Reviews Preparations for PMO Director’s Visit to Vibrant Villages in Leh District | |
Leh,July 14 (Scoop News)-In view of the upcoming visit of Ms. Sweta Singh, IFS, Director, Prime Minister’s Office, to Vibrant Villages in Leh District, Deputy Commissioner Leh, Romil Singh Donk, IAS, chaired a review meeting today at VC Room of DC office Leh to assess progress and finalize arrangements. The DC Leh directed all concerned departments to present detailed reports on the progress of work under their respective sectors. The Health and Education Departments were specifically instructed to share photographic evidence of ongoing construction works to ensure transparency and timely execution.He added that the Vibrant Village Programmes will be reviewed every week on Saturday at 11am with Photographs and financial and physical progress status review. He directed the Sub-Divisional Magistrates of Durbuk and Nyoma to conduct site inspections in their jurisdictions, review construction activities, and hold meetings with executing agencies for coordination. Emphasizing the importance of community engagement, he highlighted that weekly review meetings will continue to be held, to track preparations and documentation of all visiting dignitaries, including photographs, must be compiled systematically. ADDC Sonam Nurboo (JKAS) also stressed that public interaction is a critical part of the visit. During such interactions, all departments are expected to be present and provide a brief introduction of their roles and initiatives to the visiting PMO official. In a moment of immense pride for the people of Wanla village and the entire Ladakh region, a new book titled “Wanla- History and Culture” authored by Sonam Angchok, a dedicated farmer and native of Wanla village, was officially launched on 10th July 2025. The launch took place during the inaugural Wanla Lonpo Festival, the first of its kind celebrated in the village to honour its rich heritage and ancestral legacies.
The book was formally released by the Chief Guest, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, Chief Executive Councilor, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Leh, in the presence of several dignitaries, local leaders, guests, and villagers of the Wanla. The event witnessed an enthusiastic gathering of villagers, youth, and cultural enthusiasts who came together to celebrate Wanla’s past, present, and aspirations for the future.
Sonam Angchok’s book is a heartfelt documentation of the history, cultural traditions, oral narratives, and architectural heritage of Wanla – a historically significant village in the Sham region of Ladakh. As a farmer deeply rooted in his land and community, Sonam Angchok brings a unique and authentic perspective to local history and cultural knowledge, often overlooked in mainstream academic discourses.
