EJAC Vice President urges J&K Govt To urgently aqppoint I&FC Chief Engineer and Other Technical Staff

Srinagar, July 07 (Scoop News)-The Chairman of the Mechanical Irrigation & Flood Control Employees Federation (MI&FCEF) and Vice President of EJAC, Farooq Ahmad Khan, has strongly appealed to the Jammu and Kashmir Government to address key issues affecting the Irrigation & Flood Control Department.

In a statement issued to the press, Farooq Khan urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Jal Shakti Minister Javaid Ahmed Rana and Commissioner Secretary Shaleen Kabra to take immediate steps toward filling long-pending vacancies including those of I&FC Chief Engineer Kashmir, Superintending Engineers (SEs), Assistant Executive Engineers (AEEs) and other technical staff.

“These critical posts have remained vacant for a long time, severely impacting the efficiency of the Irrigation & Flood Control Department. Both employees and the general public are facing unnecessary hardships due to the staff shortage,”.

Khan further said that “I once again appeal to the J&K Government to address these issues immediately so that the department can function smoothly and serve the people effectively.”

Farooq Khan also highlighted the long-pending issue of regularizing daily wagers, casual labourers and seasonal employees who have been serving for years without any job security. “Daily wagers are the backbone of essential public services across all government departments in Jammu & Kashmir. While the Chief Minister has assured action and announced the regularization of these employees and even constituted a cabinet sub-committee to frame a regularization policy, we urge that this committee works with urgency and delivers concrete results. Thousands of families are waiting for justice”.

He further added, “We expect the government to prioritize regularization rather than delaying it with procedural formalities. These workers have served the people of J&K with dedication under tough conditions and deserve fair treatment.”

Farooq Khan appeals to the Jal Shakti Minister Javaid Ahmed Rana to play a proactive role in addressing the long-standing concerns of employees within the Irrigation & Flood Control Department.

He also urged MLAs across party lines to raise their voices in the Assembly in support of these employees. “This is not a political issue, it is a matter of fairness and justice for thousands of workers. We hope the government will fulfill its commitment without any further delay,” Khan concluded.
