| National Sports Policy 2025 approved by the Union Cabinet is a welcome development: GL Raina | |
Jammu,July 01 (Scoop News)-Union Cabinet in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi approved the National Sports Policy (NSP) 2025. The aim of the NSP 2025 is to reshape the country's sporting landscape and empower people with sports and supersedes the existing National Sports Policy of 2001. NSP2025 envisions a roadmap to establish India as a global sporting powerhouse and a strong contender for excellence at international sporting events, including the 2036 Olympic Games.
Girdhari Lal Raina, former MLC and spokesperson of the BJP JK-UT welcomed the approval of NSP 2025. He termed it as a landmark policy decision that has the signature of Narendra Modi Ji's working style. Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji is well known for advance planning with a futuristic vision that always keeps Nationfirst, he added.
NSP 2025 will also reshape India’s sporting ecosystem,promote sports culture at the grassroots, enhance infrastructure, support athlete development, and establish India as a formidable force in global sports, GL Raina explained. It will also provide boost to the economic activity.
Elaborating on the importance of sports in today's competitive global scene , GL Raina underlined the importance of advance planning and rigorous training required to be among the best in the field. NSP 2025 has several aspects that will address issues confronting sportspersons and administrators alike, he added. It also lays thrust on sports that have been mostly neglected by the market forces, Raina stressed.
In the context of Jammu and Kashmir sports are more crucial to wean away youth from menaces like drug abuse and terrorism, Ex-MLC explained. He hoped that the UT administration will adopt the policy in letter and spirit and ensure success of the efforts that have been put in to improve sports infrastructure in union territory after 2019. GL Raina called upon the youth of the country to join sports not only as a career choice but a mission to make India Global Sporting Powerhouse as has been envisaged in NSP 2025 also called Khelo Bharat Niti - 2025.
