Review Meeting on Implementation of New Criminal Laws Held at Nubra


Leh,June 23 (Scoop News)-A review meeting on the implementation of the three new criminal laws—Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam—was convened under the chairmanship of Dr. Anju Rathi Rana, Secretary Law, Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India at Nubra, UT of Ladakh.

The meeting was attended by Shri Shashi Kant Bhagat, (A) Secretary Department of Law and Justice, UT of Ladakh, Mukul Beniwal (IAS) Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Nubra, Station House Officer (SHO), Nubra, two Law Officers from the Department of Law and Justice, and Naib Tehsildars of Nubra Sub-Division.

The primary objective of the meeting was to review the preparedness of local enforcement and administrative agencies with respect to the enforcement and procedural adaptation of the newly enacted criminal laws, which replaced the Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, and Indian Evidence Act, respectively.

During the interaction, the Chairman solicited feedback from the ground-level functionaries regarding practical challenges they may be encountering in the transition to the new legal framework. The local officers expressed the need for comprehensive training and capacity building to effectively implement the new statutes and align their procedures with the updated legal mandates.

The meeting concluded with an assurance that structured training modules and awareness programs will be planned in coordination with relevant authorities to equip the officers with requisite legal knowledge and procedural clarity. A formal vote of thanks was extended to the Chair and all participating officers for their presence and valuable insights.
