Prof. MA Shah takes oath as President of Teachers' Society at NIT Srinagar | |  Srinagar, October 30 (Scoop News)-Former Head, Department of Physics and senior faculty member, Prof. M. A. Shah took the oath as the newly elected President of the Teachers' Society at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar.
The inaugural of swearing-in sacred ceremony was held with great enthusiasm and zealousness in the New Guest House, NIT campus that was attended by a large gathering of faculty, staff and students.
The ceremony was formally opened by Prof. Nazir Ahmad, Dean Alumni and International Affairs and Professor of Mechanical Engineering Department (two times Presidents of the society), whose words set a powerful tone for the occasion and later on administered the oath to Prof Shah.
Reflecting on the Society’s origins, he paid homage to former faculty members who founded the organization at the then, Regional Engineering College, Srinagar.
Established with a constitution crafted by Prof. O.N. Kaul and formally recognized by the Board of Governors, the Teachers' Society has a storied history rooted in the welfare of both faculty and students.
The 2024 election for which was held on October 14, following the society’s bylaws and utilizing a preferential voting system.
Prof. M.A. Shah emerged with a resounding victory, garnering 398 points over his opponent’s 257 points.
In his acceptance speech, Prof. Shah reaffirmed his commitment to the society’s constitution, calling it “the Bible of our Mission.”
He pledged to uphold the principles of integrity, transparency, and accountability that have long been the organization's bedrock, asserting that "all actions will remain within the sacred framework of our constitution."
