| CEC Dr Jaffer meets Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur to discuss varied concerns of Kargil | |
Kargil, December 08 (Scoop News)-Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon met with Union Minister for Youth Services & Sports, Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, Anurag Singh Thakur at Delhi and discussed various issues of Kargil.
The CEC raised the issues of Aakashvani Kargil and Doordarshan Kendra Kargil with the Minister and requested for intervention given the importance of the centers in promotion and preservation of the culture of the region.
CEC Dr Jaffer also requested for the establishment of Sports Academy in the district to promote and nurture sports enthusiasts including young people to train them to participate in national and international events.
He also took the matter for strengthening of sports infrastructure in the district including winter-friendly sports arena keeping in view the climatic conditions of the area.
The Minister assured the CEC for consideration of the issues in the best possible interests of the district. A memorandum of demands was also submitted to the Union Minister by the CEC Dr Jaffer.
