Seven ITBP Personnel Killed in tragic road accident near Phallgam,33 injured
Lt Governor visits ITBP personnel injured in tragic road accident
Srinagar,August 16 (Scoop News)- Six personnel of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) were killed today in a road accident after a bus they were travelling in skidded off the road and rolled down into a gorge in Chandanwari near Pahalgam in South Kashmir.


Police spokesman said that in a tragic road accident, seven personnel of ITBP got martyred while several others injured, some of them critically, after a bus carrying 41 personnel, including 39 from the ITBP and two from the J&K Police skidded of the road and fell on a deep river bed near Chandanwari, Pahalgam in District Anantnag.

Preliminary investigation revealed that, the bus carrying personnel from ITBP, deployed for Yatra duties, was returning from Chandanwari Pahalgam when the driver lost control over it and the vehicle skidded of the road and fell on a river bed. In this tragic accident, 7 ITBP personnel attained martyrdom and several others got injured. After massive rescue operations, the injured were immediately shifted to nearby hospital and later on airlifted to Army Hospital Srinagar for treatment.

Besides, the above injured SgCt Sheer Khan of IRP 3rd Bn (driver of vehicle) who too was injured is also admitted in BB Cantt. Army Hospital Srinagar.

Extremely pained by the loss of lives due to this tragic road accident, my deepest condolences to the bereaved families & prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured personnel, said the ADGP Kashmir Shri Vijay Kumar.



Meanwhile Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha today visited Army Hospital Srinagar and enquired about the well-being of ITBP personnel injured in a tragic road accident near Chandanwari.
Lt General Amardeep Singh Aujla, GOC 15 Corps was also present.
The Lt Governor went around the wards where the injured were receiving treatment, and passed necessary instructions to provide the best of medical facilities to them for their speedy recovery.
The Lt Governor expressed grief over the loss of lives of the ITBP personnel in the unfortunate incident and extended his condolences to the members of bereaved families.
“Deeply anguished by the bus accident near Chandanwari in which we have lost our brave ITBP personnel. My condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured. All possible assistance is being provided to the injured personnel”, said the Lt Governor.
