SKUAST J holds 21st Research Council Meeting (RCM)

Jammu, July 31 (Scoop News)- SKUAST-J today held 21st Research Council Meeting(RCM) under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor, Prof. J P Sharma.
Two eminent experts Prof. P. K. Sharma, Former Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-J and Dr. M.C Sharma, former Vice Chancellor & Director IVRI-Izatnagar, Bareilly, besides K.K.Sharma, Director Agriculture, Jammu; Krishan Lal, Director Sheep Husbandry, Jammu; statutory officers of the university and others senior officers from the allied departments animal husbandry, horticulture and fisheries were also present in the meet.
The Vice Chancellor, SKUAST Jammu and Chairman of the meeting, instructed the scientists to commercialize the technologies generated in the university on a larger scale. Prof.Sharma advised the university scientists to go for geo tagging, copy rights and to pursue patents for different technologies. He advocated for developing close linkages between the university and allied departments so that the end users can reap the benefits of the latest technologies developed by the university. Prof. Sharma further emphasized upon the university scientists to bridge the gap between farm university and farmers. Prof.Sharma further elaborated upon diverse agro- ecologies of Jammu region that can be a potential boon for the farmers for their socio economic upliftment. Prof.Jag Paul Sharma, Director Research SKUAST-J apprized the house about the overall research activities of the university and also formally welcomed the vice chancellor and eminent experts.
Prof.M.C. Sharma, former Vice Chancellor & Director and expert for the meeting emphasized to focus on commercially viable products from the veterinary field. He said that regular awareness programmes must be made a regular feature at universities for sensitizing the farmers. Prof. M.C Sharma emphasized upon the scientists to tap the niche area of the region for developing geographical indicators.
Prof.P.K Sharma, Former Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-J and expert for the meeting advised the university scientists to cater to the ever changing and challenging needs of the farming community. He advocated that proven technologies should be taken to the farmers field through KVKs and allied departments with the help of artificial intelligence (AI) and ICTs.
Prof. Pradeeep K Sharma appreciated the efforts of the present vice chancellor for his dedication and commitment for taking ahead the university by leaps and bounds. Later HODs, and Incharge Regional Stations presented work of their respective units. Proceedings of the meeting were conducted by Dr.Mahital Jamwal Deputy Director. Vote of thanks was presented by Dr.Pardeep Wali, Deputy Director.
