Sikh Progressive Front pleads inclusion of Non Migrant Sikhs in OBC Category

Jammu, December 03 (Scoop News)- A deputation of Sikh Progressive Front under the chairmanship of its President S Balvinder Singh along S Manjit Singh Gen Secretary, S T. P Singh and S Sharanjit singh met Chairman J&K Socially Backward & Economically Backward Classes Commission and pleads for inclusion of Non Migrant Sikhs of Kashmir in the OBC Category and also drew the attention of the Commission toward their miserable and pathetic conditions.
Deputation further informed the Commission that the employment package which was started by the Union Government in the years 2009 for Kashmiri Migrants and it was later extended to Non Migrant Kashmiris also but darkest part of it was that when State Government in the years 2017 extended the said benefits to Non Migrant Kashmiris it brought SRO 425 Amended the rules of SRO 412 and added a clause stating that Non Migrant Kashmiri Mean “KASHMIR PANDITS” and thereby debarred the Sikh youths of Kashmir, Non Migrant Category, which itself speaks of discriminatory attitude of the government.
Deputation further presented before the Commission that recently a notification is issued by All India Council of Technical Education( A Statutory Body of Govt of India) Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Dated 06.10.2020 for giving special concession to the wards of Kashmiri Migrants and Kashmiri Pandits/Kashmiri Hindu families (Non Migrant) living in Kashmir for admission in higher Education Institutions throughout the country. Thus once again the youths belonging to microscopic Sikh Community of Kashmir (Non Migrant) have been excluded.
So therefore the deputation of SPF urge upon the Commission to kindly include Non Migrant Sikhs of Kashmir Valley in other Back ward classes Category (OBC) under your Commission, so that they can avail the benefits of various schemes granted by the Central Government from time to time and they will get an opportunity to raise their standard of living with dignity and honour. We are sure that these benefits granted by the Central Govt will encourage the educated youth to compete with their counter part of other states for higher education & employment purposes.
