Animal Husbandry department UT Ladakh has achieved the Highest FMD vaccination in UT's, under the NADCP of GoI | |
Leh (Ladakh), December 02 (Scoop News)-The National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP), for the control and eradication of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and Brucellosis from India by 2030, the phase 1 of which as in every State/UTs across India, was implemented in the Union Territory of Ladakh from 2nd Oct to 15th Nov 2020 on a mission campaign mode in both the districts of UT Ladakh. UT Ladakh being a newly formed IT, had multiple challenges like shortage of staff, LAHDC election duty and topographical challenges, the Department of Animal Husbandry, stood firmly against the challenge and achieved it. A total of 79, 098 No' of cattle were tagged and vaccinated against FMD with a coverage of 94 %, which is the highest in terms of vaccination coverage among the Union Territories, as per the report of Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, GoI and MHA, as on 26th Nov 2020. The secretary Animal/Sheep Husbandry UT Ladakh, Ravinder kumar said that it is being done to make the UT Ladakh free from FMD (Foot and Mouth Disease) in the livestock sector & improve the Animal health & productivity. He appreciated the efforts made by the field staff & doctors of Department.
