| Dr. Jitendra Singh, MoS to Inaugurate 5 Day Online Orientation Program at IIM Jammu on July 16 | |
Jammu, July 15 (Scoop News)-Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu commences its 5 Day orientation programs from 16th – 21st July 2020, for the 5th batch of MBA and 1st batch of PhD Program in an online mode.
The purpose of the orientation program is to familiarize incoming students with IIM Jammu systems, processes, procedures and general rules so as to make them comfortable and adapt faster to the new environment. It facilitates initial academic introduction and course selection. Students get acclimatized to the current requirements and changes adopted by the institute due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and become aware of the virtual facilities provided to them. Orientation programs also create an atmosphere that reduces anxiety, encourages positive attitude, and stimulates an enthusiasm for learning. It provides a welcoming environment for students and their families to meet and have an open communication with the faculty, staff, senior students, new students and key activity heads of the Institute. As a result, students will better understand the purpose of academics as well as course selection and will become accustomed to the institutes processes. They will feel confident and thrilled about their decision to join IIM Jammu. Also, they will gain exposure by listening and learning from the experiences shared by various esteemed guests.
During the orientation program, each day starts at 7:30 am with Yoga session, as it is imperative to build strength, awareness as well as harmony in both mind and body to cope up with the rigor and challenges of the program and also the impact of COVID-19. On day 1, a formal inauguration of the orientation program is planned. Dr. Milind Kamble, Chairman, BoG, IIM Jammu will preside over the Inaugural Function. Inaugural Address will be given by the Chief Guest, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge), Government of India (GoI). Prof. B.S. Sahay will deliver the welcome address. Top industry captains, corporate leaders and bureaucrats are scheduled to address the new batch and motivate them during the course of orientation program to name a few, Mr. Prahlad Kakar, Ad.
