Over 8000 students availed of internet facility in Srinagar in last three weeks
Srinagar, September 27 (Scoop News)-In the last three weeks over 8000 students and aspirants have availed of the internet facility the Srinagar administration has made available at the Tourist Reception Centre Srinagar to register for different kinds of academic and professional examinations.
The exams for which the aspirants were facilitated and helped with making registrations include GATE, JEE Mains, CSIR NET and NEET.
The internet facility was also used by students for submitting admission forms and making applications for scholarships at national and international institutions.
The users also include students who needed to know their results or download admit cards for different examinations at the local and national levels.
It is notable that six terminals with operators have been set at the TRC as part of this facility.
The administration has also made the internet facility available at the National Informatics Centre (NIC) at DC Office Srinagar where e-tendering facilities have been made available to contractors and where some 400 users have availed of it so far in the current month.
The internet facility at the NIC where some 20 terminals have been activated for the purpose is also being availed of by all district and divisional level departments for updation purposes.
The total number of users who have availed of this facility add up to over 850 which include contractors and employees of some 50 government departments.
The internet facilities at both these locations are being operated under the supervision of the Additional Deputy Commissioner Kuldeep Krishan Sidha in order to ensure smooth operation for the convenience of availers.
The facilities are open and available to users from 8 am to 9 pm at TRC Srinagar and from 10 am to 7 pm at NIC at DC Office Srinagar.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary has directed the concerned to ensure full facilitation of requirements of all students and aspirants approaching them for availing of internet facilities.
It should be noted that Srinagar was the first district where internet and phone services were made available to citizens in the wake of the prevailing situation.
