Weeklong Workshop on Mindful Future and 1 Day Talk on Ethics

Leh,August 01 (Scoop News)-Weeklong Workshop on "Mindful Future 3" at Youth Cultural Centre- Raku House, Gya Village and CIBS by H.E Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche and other Scholars and Guests on different topics related to Environment, Local Economy and Culture and "1 Day Talk on Ethics in Education, Social Life and Business" by H.E Samdhong Rinpoche at CIBS Auditorium Hall, Leh concluded today after receiving the final private audience with Ven Rinpoche la at Jive Tsal today in the morning (1st Aug 2019).
In Details : The third edition of the “Mindful Future” workshop- Reweaving the fabric of community, was yet again jointly organized by Local Futures and Flowering Dharma for five days from 26th July to 29th July and 31st July 2019,with support from Ministry of Culture, Government of India, which saw participation of 40 students and young professionals, at Youth Cultural Centre, Raku House, a century Old Traditional House restored by members of Flowering Dharma and generously offered by Mr Chombel and Ms Tsewang of Raku Family pro bono, to carry out the works of the organization,
The aim of the workshop was to diagnose the systemic root causes of social and cultural breakdown, both within Ladakh and globally.
The workshop commenced with a talk by H.E Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche on the “Challenges of Modernity”. On the second day the participants were introduced to the issues of “Mental Health and Awareness” by Adolescence Councilor Ms. Dechan with Youth Entrepreneur Mr Jamphel of Unexplored Ladakh. Later, Padmashree Dr Landol also joined the panel and gave further insights on Adolescence Health covering both the physical and mental wellbeing . Onpo Thuptan Janphan, a renowned traditional Astrologer concluded the proceedings of second day with his talk on traditional knowledge system of Astrology. The participants were fully engaged in the sessions and also threw many questions at Onpo Janphan, which he was happy to answer.

The 3rd Day opened with the Local Business Panel with Ms Spalzes from Solja Café, Mr Jigmet from Rangzan, and Mr Norjey from Secmol as the panelists. They shared their experience on running local business and promoting the local economy. The venue of the workshop then shifted to Gya Village, where the host Mr Urgyan, elder brother of Mr Stanzin Dorjai Gya, renowned film maker from the region, gave a talk on Organic Farming.

Participants then ventured out to explore the Gya Village. Throughout the workshop traditional and organic food like paktuk, shu, pawa, khambir among others was also encouraged

After a break of one day the workshop concluded in the Conference Hall of CIBS in the presence of Prof. Geshe Konchok Wagdus, Director, CIBS Leh. In his concluding speech Geshe la emphasized on the importance of Cultural Values and the Importance of Language to protect ones identity. He also presented Certificates and Khataks to all the participants.

Prior to that, on the same Day (31st July) at 2 PM Flowering Dharma, CIBS, Leh and SEBoL jointly organized the public talk session with H.E. Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche, on the topic “Ethics in Education, Economy, Social Life and Policy Making” where audience gathered in thousands- including students from SOS TCV, Lamdon Model Senior Secondary School, Siddartha School and others. Eminent members of the society including of Shri. Swagat Biswas, Divisional Commissioner, Shri Tsering Dorji Lakruk, MLC, Shri. PT Kunzang, President LBA, Shri. Nurbu Gyaltson, Prominent ex Leader on Congress and Ex MLC, Shri. Tsering Samphel, Prominent Leader on Congress, Ven. Geshe Tsewang, Director ,Ngari Institute, Shri Yeshe Tundup, Director LeDEG, Director, Heart Foundation, Principal of Siddhartha School and TCV, Professors from CIBS were also present.

The Open public Talk was logistically supported by CIBS Leh and Conducted by Flowering Dharma under the support of Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Participants from the Mindful Future 3 played the crucial important role in organizing programme which provided hands on experience on conducting seminars and programs.
Concept : Through examining the intersections between the problems, economic and social crises, the 6 day talk offered participants a holistic, ‘big picture’ perspective, through which meaningful solution. As our traditional culture and philosophical traditions teach us, stability of identity and emotional wellbeing have always been rooted in community; we can’t be well in isolation. But the modernity is speeding up the pace of life, commodifying our basic needs, and turning us into individual consumers in competition with each other. In light of such challenges, how can we reweave the fabric of community to support the wellbeing of people and the Earth? What needs to be questioned? What spiritual transformations are needed? And what kinds of political/economic and Educational shifts can lead us there?
