LAHDC, Leh supports NHM Employees Leh.

Leh ,January 16 (Scoop News)-The Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Leh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal and Executive Councilor for Health Tsering Sandup today met with National Health Mission Employees of Leh district at SNM Hospital Leh who are on 48 hours protest in favour of the demand for regularization of their services, equal pay for equal work, implementation of SRO-255 and many more.

CEC JTN giving a patient hearing to the demands and going through the memorandum of NHM employee of Leh assured full support from LAHDC, Leh to back their demands strongly and said that LAHDC, Leh will go two steps ahead to follow their demands. CEC said that in reference to their memorandum, he will write latter to Governor J&K State, Financial Advisor and Finance Secretary J&K State, and to the Prime Minister Office immediately and also assured to follow the case with Chief Secretary J&K State who is expected to visit Leh in coming days.

More than 366 employees under different programme under NHM umbrella including doctors, paramedical and managerial staff has been working in the Leh district since 2007. These employees have been working with dedication and missionary zeal and most of them are working at hard to reach, inaccessible areas and zero boarder to improve the basic healthcare indicators including material mortality rate ( from 3 case to 0/100000), infant mortality rate from ( 33/1000 to almost 9/1000) till December 2018 which clearly proved that Leh district has been able to achieve the goals of the mission well before targeted time.

Moreover, the district Leh has achieved good position across the J&K State in primary health care and overall achievement and is the first district hospital in the state by winning first position in Kayakalp programme a new initiative by the MoHFW GoI, recently the district is awarded for first position under Measles Rubella (MR) mass vaccination campaign 2018-19 presented by the Governor of J&K State.

The memorandum reads that the staff working under the NHM has been working against meager salary for last 11 years while majority of them have crossed the upper age limit for govt jobs and discriminated and deprived for social security benefits like provident fund, medical insurance, pensioner benefits etc, which has put them in a precarious position despite serving the department during prime of their lives.

The memorandum further alleged that despite repeated assurances from time to time the higher authorities have failed to devise a road map for regularization of their services which has forced them to observe once again 48 hours protest from 14th to 15th Jan-2019 like other district of the state, which affect the health care services in the district specially in rural and inaccessible areas.
